Eddie Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Lots of negativity here, which I get given the history of the individuals involved, but it’s just Cas travelling over for a friendly in Spain and that’s a good thing for them and their fans afaic. Valencia is a top place to visit.

Valencia is a top place to visit. As said, if that's all it is: fine. However, if it is used to give credibility to the man who brought us Euro XIII, Franchise League (complete with club announcements and a fixture list), and Bath Gladiators withdrawing from the RFL to set up their own competition then that does become a problem. Even though all of those are jokes, they are all damaging in their own way. 1 2 Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life. Valencia is a top place to visit. Cas having a warm weather training camp is fine. Working with a well known chancer is not fine. RL will not be taken seriously while people like this chancer are given any credibility. The governing bodies can't do everything, those involved in clubs need to do their own research and apply some levels of scrutiny to what they do.

Euro 13s I can, and was willing it to happen, who knows what would have happened if it weren’t for Covid but yeah agreed with the benefit of hindsight it seemed unlikely

Even if there was no covid and every other star in the universe aligned, Euro 13 never had a chance. The majority of "clubs" were non-existent entities.

RigbyLuger Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 It's easier to mock up a logo and shirt than actually do anything real, but we love giving credibility to nonsense.

I encountered the same phenopmen once. It was in Africa but I think it was Chad, not Sudan and I didn't keep any record of the town so I could never find it again. The one I found included OZ cricketers as well, not just Qld Origin players. I wonder if it was the person doing translations of the street names.
JohnM Posted December 7, 2024 Posted December 7, 2024 There's streets in New York, South Africa, Canada and more, named after a former Leigh player. Bernard Manning lives! Welcome to be New RFL, the sport's answer to the Wheeltappers and Shunters Social Club.
