  1. The tv coverage is the best we have, if not its just games on YouTube. A couple of years ago we didn't even have this, people speak of pro rugby league in France! Crowds are disappearing except for the Catalans, playing numbers are dropping, no one is interested on our little regional sport. The federation are trying to get life back into the game but it's too far gone, sorry to be negative. but for us in france it's great to have rl on tv(regional internet channel) and a few thousands at the ground. People outside of France really don't understand how much the game is struggling and how hard the small number of passionate treizistes work to keep it alive.

  2. Why is everyone moaning? It's free sport on the TV! You could always switch to the Cricket, or God forbid, the football.

  3. Surprised these haven't already been posted... Leeds Rhinos and the Burrow family have confirmed plans for the funeral of Rob Burrow CBE. The private funeral will take place on Sunday 7th July, the day each year that the club annually celebrates Rob Burrow Day because of the iconic number 7 shirt worn by Rob during his illustrious Rugby League career. The service will be for invited guests only with a limited capacity at Pontefract Crematorium for the service. However, Rob’s final journey has been published and members of the public are invited to stand on the road side to pay their respects to Rob and the Burrow family as the funeral cortège makes its way to the service. Members of the public are asked to be in position from 1pm on the day. The cortege will travel along the A656 (Park Road) passing the Xscape leisure complex on their right as it travels towards the M62 junction. The cars will continue along the A639 towards Pontefract passing Pontefract Racecourse before turning onto Park Lane (B6134) near Pontefract Tanshelf train station. The cortege will follow along Ackton Lane into Ackton before turning left onto Sewerbridge Lane and Common Side Lane (B6133) heading towards Featherstone. At the War Horse sculpture the cars will turn left, slowing for a moment at Featherstone Lions ARLFC’s ground on Wakefield Road (A645). The cortege will slow again as it passes through Featherstone and near to where Rob played his junior rugby. The cars will continue along Pontefract Lane towards the crematorium however we would ask members of the public to leave this part of the journey so the Burrow family can have a few moments to themselves before arriving at the crematorium for the service. Entry to the crematorium and service will be for invited guests only and the purpose of publishing the route is to give the public the chance to pay their respects before allowing Rob’s family and friends to grieve his loss in private, we hope everyone can respect these wishes. There will be no live streaming of the service. Leeds City Council and the Lord Mayor of Leeds will host an invite only civic reception in honour of Rob on Friday 12th July at 11am. This event will be live streamed with links published nearer the time. The family have politely asked that members of the public do not send flowers, if people want to make a donation they can do so using the following links: If you would like to support Rob’s family directly, you can do so here https://www.gofundme.com/f/leeds-players-association-supporting-rob-burrow If you would like to support the Leeds Hospitals Charity appeal to build the Rob Burrow Centre for MND you can do so here https://www.leedshospitalscharity.org.uk/donate/mnd-centre-appeal

  4. I just assumed you don't like Rugby League and post a hundred times a day because this is the only website you can get on?

  5. With the crowd I'm now pretty glad it's not on the BBC. As a way of selling the sport a near empty ground for our major northern hemisphere international does more harm than good.

  6. I'm sorry but it's a bit unreasonable to click on a link discussing the England vs France RL match and not expect to get updates on the Italy vs Switzerland football match. It's your own fault really.

  7. It does look all round pretty poor - even by our standards - BUT.. from acorns.. We have to persevere with this fixture, and in France. We absolutely have to. Good start for the French. How often have we been able to say that?! French kit is a beauty.

  8. I suppose he had to have the operation at some point and, with the England schedule being so packed, it was always going to clash with something.

  9. Well I know we are all a bit down in the dumps at the moment but I thought someone needs to start the thread for tomorrows game Going to be another tough game but I honestly think if we can replicate the first half against Oldham for the full 80 minutes we may just get something out of the game. The biggest thing for me last week until the referee decided to go back to his usual showing was that our discipline was top notch and by not giving away stupid penalties Oldham did not get any cheap yards and had to work hard for all their gains. Hopefully our new recruits can hit the ground running and Brennan who had a good dig last week will be even better for having a week of training with the lads. Notice Jordan is back in the squad so fingers crossed he is fit enough to play. Do not forget it is a 2pm Kickoff !!!

  10. Kevin Rowland of Dexys still going strong at 70 performed well last night but a massive shame he couldn’t fit in ‘there there my dear’ got to give the people what they want to hear at Glastonbury and I still love the searching for the young soul rebels record. Paul Heaton however top marks, fantastic. Going to try and get myself out of my 75-85 music though and watch as much newer stuff as possible

  11. I know it's not the question you asked, so please forgive me for an impassioned rant here: The pinnacle of the sport in the Northern Hemisphere is now no more than repeated fixtures of Wigan v Warrington, St Helens v Leeds, Hull v Hull KR: it’s not enough, it’s not enough to capture the imagination, to hold the enthusiasm, to provide a backdrop for increased participation, to maintain or grow the sport. And the present major generational review of the sport is nothing more than a spreadsheet and powerpoint exercise to select who bumps along the bottom of Super League, providing the few top teams with acceptable games. It’s not enough. The alternative? A serious review of where the game is, what it can be, how existing enthusiasm can be maintained and then extended, how remaining resources can be retained, how the visual impact of the sport can stand out against the exponentially growing swamp of alternative calls on sporting and leisure spending, how youngsters can participate and progress through the levels of a wonderful sport filled with running, evasion, catching, kicking, exhilaration, teamwork, fitness, tactics, a proud history, a cultural grounding. A major review which, because there is no one else, can only be instigated by those few clubs who have the income, power, profile, and influence, to bring the game unselfishly together. A really serious major review. It won’t happen.

  12. There has to real questions asked about why the crowd tanked for this fixture and how we can improve things. We've had plenty of decent crowds in France for this fixture with 16,866 and 14,276 in Avignon and considerably more than we saw today in Perpignan, Paris and even Toulouse had 8,326 the last time.

  13. I enjoyed the game and the French coverage on Sport en France. I think this is something worth persisting with, although it might be better as a later evening kick-off in Perpignan.

  14. Nice heads-up play from Smith to dab it over for Johnstone's wing after the French drop-out. Johnstone crosses for another. He is a silky, wonderfully fast wing-man. Side-line conversion good as well, to make the final score 40-8.

  15. My apologies too. ouRLeague was the same - occasionally sweet, sometimes sour. I just expected SL+ to be more reliable. It's no good some folk finding it fine and others being made angry by it. Even the tries I've seen on facebook are properly blurry. Having given several free volunteer hours to RL today, being unable to then watch my national team on a reliable platform has left me upset.

  23. I'm getting sea sick watching on Superleague+.... We need to lock this fixture in for 10 years - same-ish weekend in France and grow the rivalry. You would hope with certainty of the fixture we could grow the crowds year on year

  26. I’m not usually negative but everything about this fixture is just embarrassing. International RL should be the pinnacle of the sport.

  27. Jordan should be at fullback whenever he's fit, he was absolutely wasted with the failed experiment of sammut at fb. Keep your best players in there best position

  28. as a oldham supporter you played very well in the first half against us. if you play the same way against keighley and hold them till half time you can beat them. they faded badly against us,and they only scored 6 points against cornwall in the second half. against rochdale who scored 28 points against them in the second half and only lost to them by a interception try in the last few minutes.

  29. When Australia couldn't beat Great Britian in the ashes between 1920 and 1950, we should have stopped playing them and focused on making Lancashire vs. Yorkshire the pinnacle of Rugby League.

  30. Here in Toulouse now. Have had a good chat with a couple of the French boys De Costa and Pascal Fages and they are really fired up for it and think they definitely have a chance of winning tonight. Good fun spirit in the French camp who seem to be really enjoying themselves. They even invited AMO my dog to take part in the official team photo at the hotel last night. It's on my LinkedIn and rugbyleague.com:)) Paul

  32. One thing is for certain Toulouse is not the place anymore to play internationals only 15 + years ago France had crowds of 11000 + for matches v New Zealand and Australia. The organisation today was non existant and an embarrassment for the sport right from the stadium presentation to the TV coverage. No-one in Toulouse is aware that an international match took place today outside of a few loyal fans. The only gig in town this weekend is Stade Toulousian and the Euros. It's such a crying shame as i can see the commercial sucess of the Dragons on a regular basis, however the game is being run here by a medieval system of blazers and ties who are not in the real world and are totally clueless. To put it in perspective everything is financed by government hand outs fees and fines no commercial organisation exists outside of what the clubs do on a local basis.

  37. This coverage is entirely commensurate with the effort that has gone in to everything around this fixture... Terrible. Makes me despair

  38. I thought we played pretty decently last week, with Budsy back in the squad this could mean Zarrin having to give up full back which is harsh on him after his performance last week. Lets hope muzza gets him more involved which ever position he plays. We weren't too far off Oldham last week, so lets hope we can get this run of losses ended and bag a win. UTT

  39. Looking forward to watching my team for only the 3rd time at home this season UTT.

  40. Absolutely. I think most can accept a loss if we know the team has applied themselves like we know they can. Same effort, commitment as last week and you never know

  41. Yeah you get a ticket for £15 up to 6pm tonight which I think is a £3 saving on admission but there are also concession prices available and kids go free. I am sure someone from the club will respond to your question but I think the drinks promotion is usually £2.50 a pint. It is a good atmosphere in the Fan zone marquee and entertainment is usually top notch and it is a great pre match experience. Have a safe journey up to Cumbria

  42. He was fantastic 2nd for MOTM behind Best. Very dangerous running the ball, a try, 2 linebreaks and 120 metres. Also some excellent kicking and was unlucky that the try he assisted with a between the legs pass was disallowed.
