Wire sign Crosby and Savelio

I'm unsure about Crosby; a few years ago he was soft as puppy , then he gets some tattoos and became a bit of a shithouse. A Ryan Bailey replacement.

Thought Crosby was real good in the GF for Wigan.. surprising that they've let him go. Always got the impression he was well thought of.

Savelio is a very good signing for Wire.

Given its only a 1 year deal it looks like Wire have the same concerns as Saints over Savelio's attitude.

There's no doubt he has some talent but his attitude is awful. He threw a strop when he didn't get the pay rise he wanted last year and this translated into a poor off-season. This led him to be continually left out of the 1st team and put in the reserves (where his form was absolutely awful) and eventually sent out on loan to Cas.

Good luck to him at Wire but unless he takes that chip off his shoulder and knuckles down to some hard work then he looks like another Scott Moore in the making, a talented kid with an over inflated ego.

I am speculating here but I was under the impression that Savelio had ambitions to play in the NRL. Maybe Wire have said to him right, here's a year long contract for you to step up and showcase your talent to the NRL.  In turn, we get a player with immense talent and hopefully a massively improved amount of commitment and attitude.

Just a thought.

Edit - that's three local lads all signed up for next year - Cooper, Blythe and Savelio. Maybe there's something about playing for your home town that appeals...

He (or more probably his agent) kept telling Saints that they had several big money offers on the table from other SL clubs and the NRL last year and Saints had to significantly up their offer if they wanted him to stay. His agent was no doubt filling Savelio's head of just how good he was and how much he was worth.

The upshot was none of these other supposed big deals materialised (or more likely never existed in the first place) and Savelio resigned with Saints but not on the contract he wanted.

His attitude from that point on was awful and I for one am glad Saints didn't pander to him and dropped him, leaving him to sulk on the sidelines.

If he doesn't train well then he doesn't play well because he has a problem in keeping his weight down. Maybe Wire can turn him around and he may fulfil his early career potential, but I have my doubts whether he'll make it without a major change in attitude.

Savelio was outstanding for us - great signing for Wire

Now then, it's a race between Sandie....and Fairburn....and the little man is in........yeees he's in.

I, just like those Castleford supporters felt that the ball should have gone to David Plange but he put the bit betwen his teeth...and it was a try

Kevin Ward - best player I have ever seen

The real Mick Gledhill is what you see on here, a Bradford fan ........, but deep down knows that Bradford are just not good enough to challenge the likes of Leeds & St Helens.

Do you think he may have only wanted a 1 year deal so he could look to impress NRL scouts for the following season?

Good 1 year deal for Wolves also, as Currie unlikely to be ready to return pre June/July at best - suits all parties / can then review. Welcome to the HJ.

Good raps for Warrington junior set up at Latchford, quite a few of their lads playing top level, patton, cooper, blythe, savillio, philbin at Warrington and Mellor at widnes watkins at Leeds. A few years ago you would struggle to find juniors from Warrington at the top levels.

I can never quite tell whether Savelio's ambition to play in the NRL comes from him, or those advising him. Either way, an example of his agents work is in the below, and made interesting reading:

By my count Warrington will only have 3 overseas players next year, same as Saints?

Add these to Blythe and Cooper and we look like having a refreshed pack next year.

I like them both. Savelio has the potential to be exceptional. 1 year deal spells it out to him.

But I don't think either will make Wire stronger. One or two of Wire pack gradually slowing down now but certainly improves strength in depth.

I had not appreciated that Savelio was a Warrington man. He has huge talent. Surely Smith can manage him and unlock that. His career will go one of 2 ways from here - let's hope it's heading to the stars...

I think with Crosby the issue is where does he stand in the prop pecking order. Once Clubb got the green light to play again, we were looking at a rotation of FPN, Flower, Tautai and Clubb. Crosby deserves to be playing every week.

His performance in his last game for us was a worthy way to exit. Good luck to him.

Are they better than those leaving? Evans, Bailey, Dodds and Cox for Cooper, Blythe, Savelio and Crosby.

Id say the replacements are stronger.

I thought Cox was a decent lad and surprised he's on his way, Bailey, for me, was only in to create some depth and back-up. IMO Westwood and Sims are nearing the end. What is the news on Harrison? Is he still contracted?
