graveyard johnny
think blackpool has improved a hell of a lot in the past 5-6 years, a lot of money has been pumped in to the place to attract visitors back, as I have said before its main problem is the place is huge and has no chance of sustaining the place it was in the 60s and 70s , theres still plenty to see, do and never a dull moment to be had, if you want something to eat there are 2 pubs up near the north pier, the Washington on topping st and duke of York on Dickson rd both are a decent alternative to spoons and used by the locals that know where to grab a decent bite to eat, pump and truncheon is ok for a real ale or whiskey but wouldn't eat there see you later undertaker - in a while necrophile

Pity they can't do anything about the dilapidated hotels and B&B's on or just off the front. Seaside towns do have an issue with being magnets for people with various issues, the great number of cheap rented accommodation feeds this. But Bob8 will be happy with a stick of rock and a 'Kiss me quick' hat I'm sure. With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Bleep1673
Hmm. We have the same problem here in Hastings/SLOS, there are a lot of South Londoners coming here thinking this will be the solution to all their problems, then they find it's an unemployment black hole, unemployment higher than any where else in the south-east %-wise. Hastings looks great on a map, but the road system to the M25 can be a nightmare 90min + journey, trains are nearly 2 hours to Central London, nearly an hour to Brighton, buses are slow to start in the morning, and finish by 9pm, if you think of your work search area as 10 miles, You would be able to search 180 degrees around you, we have half that, because we are cut off to the South by the English Channel, and after 8 Miles+ it is all agricultural, until you get to Eastbourne, Ashford, or Tunbridge Wells. If someone up north was to offer me a job, and temporary accommodation, even though I love my 9-year-old daughter, I would do it. Also, don't forget North is relative. North from here is anywhere. Phil
My daughter got offered a place on a degree course at Blackpool college, there are no halls of residence but the students are put up in “digs” the college is very well regarded in this particular field but... Padge
Blackpool does have 3 things going for it, there is a road out to the North, a road out to the South and a Road out to the West. Erm, North is Fleetwood (not an improvement) and West is the Irish Sea. Fortunately there is a road to the East. I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. Bleep1673
When I was doing my ODA training in 1984-6 we had to do day release at Blackpool Victoria Hospital, fortunately it is on the edge of town, and we didn't really enter the ***thole for very long. Its rare I'd recommend an Italian and I've never recommended anywhere in Blackpool before, so here goes............ Piazza Italia, Ceder Square, FY1 1BP You'll probably need to book as its fairly small, but check out the Trip Advisor reviews, we ended up there for my daughters birthday, I was more than presently surprised, had a great atmosphere, the guy that owns it is a real star and the food was good! My in-laws being Northern Irish used to go to Blackpool every summer for their summer holidays and have very fond memories of the place. I don't share their sentiments. A couple of years ago I somehow got dragged into spending 4 nights there during the summer while they had a trip down memory lane. As I had no other summer holiday that year you could say I went to Blackpool on holiday... A Widnesian in Ireland blog What is the best system for Super League? Not at all. I am a millionaire, socialst bully boy, who closed down the mines and believes in low wages. So, you will sympathise with my problem? Blackpool is full of real people having a good time, industrial workers enjoying good, clean family fun, a treat of fish and chips at the seaside while rosy cheeked youngsters frolic on the beach and old ladies have an ice-cream on the pier. I much prefer sneering, while growing a hipster beard and sniggering at hard working families. Would you have any suggestions for place in Blackpool where I might fit in?
