John Cartwright to Hull FC

Recommended Posts

A few media outlets in Aus are reporting that Broncos assistant John Cartwright has agreed a three year deal with Hull from next season. Presumably that means Grix will remain in charge for the rest of this season.

Good luck John, you're going to need it!

I thought Myler’s priority was to get a coach with experience of Super League?

It's a 3 year deal.  In year 2 he will have a year's experience of Super League and in the 3rd year, he will have had two years experience.

Executive thinking!

Win rate of 46%, he will need to improve this to find success at FC

That was all with a brand new Gold Coast franchise though, and their win percentage since he left is worse than that. He was in charge for their best ever season. As an assistant he's won an NRL grand final and been involved with some very good teams.

On paper I think he is a really good appointment, but obviously he has a mountain of work to do to get us back to where we want to be.

I wonder what he will make of Ritchies signings since he took over Asiata apart?

I'll take anyone at the moment, we can't fall much further than we already have and he has had some success in Aus as an assistant so we might as well give him a go.

I think its a good solid appointment tbh

Going to be interesting to see who he brings with him.
Grix was brought in as an assistant but JC won’t know much about him, Ellis was defence coach, then left and has now returned - maybe not enough experience.  Briers?  I bloody hope so!

Briers rejected a head coach role with us reportedly, so I doubt he's going to come as an assistant!

It looks like they need big changes there or they may as well appoint Hoss Cartwright

If he brings Little Joe with him it will get the average age down a bit!

46% would be finding success at Hull FC.

No big fan of Hull FC but SL will be much better with a strong Hull FC club. So hopefully he helps turn them around. Reading a few articles about his career he seems a good potential choice given his high level playing career and coaching roles.

His first interview as Hull FC coach if anyone is interested. He's certainly saying the right things.

He comes across as one of those guys with a real winners mentality. Let's see if he can instill that in the players.
