I think Martin Offiah finally gave in to the inevitable and changed the pronunciation of his surname from "Offy-ya" to "Off-eye-a"

Yup. Very possibly.  Anyway. I raised it only to comment that calling Rob Burrow Burrows is not a hanging offence.

The local police and magistrates frequently spell my surname incorrectly.
