No desire to take this thread down the IMG route, but someone has spotted that if Fev go under...Wakey and Cas both get an extra 0.5 points...

We'll leave that there and move on.

Yes it's quite a frustrating concept, that two much bigger clubs are losing IMG points due to the presence of a smallΒ  village club nestled between them πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡πŸŽ‡

The problem with Fev getting a winding up order is that they do actually have assets. Unlike most of the clubs in the league. Fev supporters have always been quick to point at the land they own (subject to mortgages, obviously). Unfortunately it just attracts winding up orders.

Quite - if you are just a club and that's it they want you to keep going to pay debts. If you have assets, they can be liquidated to pay your debts instead.Β

It's a winding up petition not a winding up order.Β  Β They're very different.Β  The latter is more serious.

Quite so. It's normally what companies do to get action when another is repeatedly late paying it's bills. Loan repayment or contracted player pension payments?

Probably so, they have obviously got a problem of getting money due. However in my experience in such circumstances this is the tip of the ice berg and there are many other debts of varying magnitude not being settled.

Don't 2023 year-end accounts need to be filed before this year's IMG grading???

They don't need to be filed at Companies House, no.

IMG will need stuff for their spreadsheets.Β  Β Nothing to stop them requiring that earlier.

The petition can be stopped from turning into an order by paying the bill.

Which is the object of the petition in the first place.Β  The creditor doesn't particularly want to stop Fev trading.Β  He just wants his money.

Well, Companies House, obviously. Though you'll probably only get information from the 2022 season at the moment. Most clubs have three months to file for 2023.

Okay I’ll rephrase. Which other clubs are struggling?

That's what I meant to say. 35 years ago I spent 6 miserable months working for a company where the modus operandi seemed to be to not to pay it's bills until the winding- up petition wasΒ  threatened.

Where’s the evidence of other clubs struggling finically like Fev?Β

When we played Halifax at home ,a Fax fan in front of me said he had been on the board and were having difficulty paying the wages and owe Β£50,000 rent that is well known about - that's one at least,or isn't that classed as struggling?

I’ll keep an eye out to see if gossip on a terrace transpires to being actual news

Its public knowledge regarding Fax's rent issue. Was a freedom of information request which released the news.

Fax have are over 12 months in arrears with rent and had a crisis fans forum meeting just the other week along with advertising for outside investment. Not sure if that counts.

Probably not helped with yet another drop in funding but teams knew it were coming. For Fax I think its more a case of a group of people taking over who thought it would be easy to run a rugby club after giving it all the big licks and then realising how hard and financially draining it is and we find ourselves in this mess now.

Β  Β  Β I think some clubs overestimate the yearly income.Including gates ,league finishing position and cup matches. The safe way is to estimate the lowest income from games. The sponsorship and bar takings should be in line with previous years. And then budget to income ,no more than 70% on the players wages.Hopefully with no promotion to SL Championship clubs should be able to budget without throwing money following the dream. For next season i would like to see Ford ,Campbell and Vickers away.It would be difficult bringing in directors and chairman with loads of moneyΒ  but if we don't make a clean break i fear we will go round in circles.

Sounds very sensible to me, I realise I had a mischievous dig in this thread. So let's hope the amount owed can be sorted without causing serious long term damage. However I still stand by that in this IMG world it's time Fev re set their ambitions and realised their limitations.
