  • Its not a meaningless game
  • Championship clubs turned down a TV deal
  • Its being broadcast anyway

Other than that, spot on.

Wakefield 25-12 Toulouse

Att: 6,203

MoM: Jake 'Loophole' Trueman

Hand on heart Gav, would you not admit that this game would have more meaning if promotion was dependent on the result, sport is about winning on the field of play it always has been not some plastic version thought up in some office somewhere.

Had to look up what San Pellegrino was but wouldn't the foil cover be tangible?

It's the experience of it seeming to make it premium that is not tangible. The foil is a purely functional thing that is there to protect where you drink in a warehouse or backroom where all sorts come into contact with it. However for the consumer, it also makes it seem like a more premium product and  justifies the higher price

Not to be rude, but having to google San Pellegrino!

I've obviously not spent enough time in warehouses.

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

It would...but then you end up with the best team on that day being in SL next season, rather that the best placed club.

London getting promoted from nowhere last year was a disaster for the game!

Frightened by the prospect of it?

Aren't the clubs at the top of SL what we all aspire to be like?

Shouldn't the clubs we are promoting look as much like them as possible?

EG not like London Broncos circa 2023?

London proved that a promotion based solely on performance was flawed.

Nope.

I'd be frightened by being chucked into a division that my club wasn't prepared for.

No, I'm not frightened.

Lol at Centurions fans getting uppity 🙂

I would say that there has been some other considerations to contemplate in London's case dboy, like being relegated for 2024 season before it has kicked off.

Who's the Centurions?

Hey, I have been up and down like an whores drawers with my club, and I would sooner have it that way than being in divisions where I could neither get promoted or relegated if it meant fighting to avoid it, I'm from the old school dboy I like my sport visible watching the outcome unfold.

There was no IMG last year, the year London came up, despite being nowhere near the best team in the comp.

Under IMG fit for purpose gradings, London would not have been promoted.

Your example proves that IMG are right!

London didn't go down this year because of circumstances beyond their control, they went down because they should never have been promoted!

And they say a Centurion never changes it's spots!

For anyone interested as there isn't  a match thread for it this week, the game will be live on The Sportsman Channel on YouTube  coverage starts at 6.45pm for the 7pm kick off.

Last week’s Championship and this week’s final are not televised in Australia unfortunately.

Neither is England v Samoa as far as I can see.

Must write that down before I forget it, brilliant.

Was quite chuffed with that myself. Feel free to do with it what you will.

To be fair a soccer team was omitted from the play offs this year due to off field criteria falling short for promotion.

Union have had similar rulings.

It's not just our sport.

Luton couldn't even play home games at first last year until they spent millions on stadia improvements.

All clubs have known for years off field is just as important as on field in terms of full time status. The ones who have put the effort in are now reaping the rewards.

Could’ve solved the problem you describe by not having a play off for promotion. In a 14 team league where everyone played each other home and away, play offs were unnecessary

Anyway just wondering if we have a definite date yet when all of the IMG gradings will be announced? I expect clubs will want to start signing players etc and will want to know what division they are in!

Also have they actually given a definitive answer on promotion and relegation? Previously they've skirted around the issue. There has to be clear rules in place.

Christopher I did not say anybody has said that in respect of your first sentance, I am asking the question of you. Read back what I said instead of putting your own version on it. Non sequitur and strawman really, you are not addressing one of your employees.

Whether I think digital marketing is pointless or not is not the issue, again if one does not partake of it, what of it, oh that's right IMG will not give your club any points FFS.

Christ you don't half make this specifically about you or one individual...

It's not that you personally get or don't get them points. You go to games right? So you are 1 in the attendance bit, membership is revenue etc.. so it's ok you're doing your bit.. digital and "clicks" is about getting a new audience involved am audience that can be from anywhere in the world but that you can the monetise afterwards... The point of the 6000 v 3000 is that you use the membership number as a baseline because, really, they should all just be subscribers (theoretically.. personal preference etc means everyone understands the exact people won't but it's baseline metrics) so you should have a multiple of your membership...

You are doing your bit for Leigh, if it makes you feel better, for turning up and being a member.. but you have got to grow the digital footprint and by doing that you WILL grow revenue streams.
