Read your question back you posed to binosh here, it is:-

"What has IMG's criteria got to do with it if they're talking about parachuting a club into the top division? "

That reads as though it is IMG's proposal and not Houles.

Well, I guess you have to also have the knowledge that IMG aren't able to actually do anything, so IMG can't parachute anyone..

I think those calling it meaningless are way off the mark. For  starters IMG points are at stake , plus 6 figure prize money. Not only that ,it should be a good contest between the top two championship sides. Surely there must be plenty of RL fans who would want to watch this one, considering what garbage is on terrestial TV on Saturday evenings.

"D### you, IMG, you're ruining everything!!"

Cartoon of an old man shaking his fist at a cloud.

Not everything Worzel, but I have maintained from the introduction of IMG that they will not do clubs below SL any good at all, but with your comments re the lower divisions, I doubt that really matters.

Really looking forward to it Aggers, and I hope it delivers as much entertainment value as the game last week, not the one on Saturday, the one last Sunday Evening on Sportsman.

Now before I get derisional comments, yes I know the two competing teams on Saturday are far far better than and shouldn't even be spoken about in the same breadth as Swinton and Hunslet, but for an even skilful contest with total commitment from both teams Sunday's game was the better of the two games and provided a much better spectacle on the field of play for me.

Entertainment value and spectacle aren't the same as interest though, and that's the thing some forget when extolling the virtue of life outside Super League. We may enjoy it, but it doesn't mean others do, otherwise crowds would be higher at Swinton, Hunslet etc. That's also on the clubs to try and do.

No I doubt they can, not if they want this system to be taken seriously, but that is for another debate.

Personally I thought the standard of play at Saturday's Grand Final was excellent, two brilliant defences with only one undone by a moment of inspiration from the league's best player. If I wanted points all the time, I'd watch basketball. I think both Wigan and Rovers would have beaten any other side in the comp last weekend pretty straightforwardly.

Sometimes compelling contests don't come with loads of trys.

Hey I am the last person who wants to see loads of tries in a game, some of the best games I have had the pleasure of witnessing have been low scoring affairs, at all levels of the sport from community games to the top games worldwide.

Did you watch the Championship/L1 play off, obviously no game is as good once you know the score - well not for me anyway - but this was a very good entertaining contest, read the thread on here don't take my word for it.

Do you much other than SL Riggers, do you have any interest or connection to any other standard/level of the sport?

It is all kind of the same debate, and probably should have been in the IMG thread to begin with.

Those infamous 12 Saint Helens chairs maybe?

There is long Sylvain Houles interview today in la dépêche saying very good words about Wakefield, the team and their supporters.  he played for wakefied during 2 years in the beginning of the century. Very far from the Toulouse haters on this forum.

Not sure why anyone would do that, not everything is You against everyone else Harry.

So Sylvain Houles believes that irrespective of IMG's gradings his club should be elevated to Super League because they have great potential, thoughts please.

Do they have a railway station?

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I enjoy all kinds of stuff, but we on a forum are the exceptions.

Not being subscribed to a YouTube channel doesnt make one a nonconfirmist.

It's more the fact that it is a way for the club to promote itself. And 3k is a pretty poor return on 6,000 members. Especially when you don't even need to be a fan of a club to subscribe to their YT page.

Don't start Harry on % of attendees to subscribers 😂

That's what turning into a meaningless game does.

  • Its not a meaningless game
  • Championship clubs turned down a TV deal
  • Its being broadcast anyway

Other than that, spot on.

Probably about as likely to get on your train in Leigh as you are in towns with a station at the moment

Exactly, it's like accountants trying to get rid of the foil on San Pellegrino not realising that its are part of the reason it's a premium (and more expensive) product. Intangibles have worth.

Had to look up what San Pellegrino was but wouldn't the foil cover be tangible?

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

Yes I’ve seen it. I think there’s lots of good rugby in the Championship, I’m sure I’ve seen almost as many games in our second division as you have as a member throughout Rovers’ long tenure there. That’s why I think it can be a valid competition in its own right, ideally with long-term agreements with Super League clubs just as the QLD and NSW Cup comps do.

League One I’m less sure of in the long-term. A fully pro Super League, and a semi-pro Championship make sense, with an “almost amateur” layer below that I think.
