Please believe those who have watched these players from Leigh on a regular basis, Hardaker and Chamberlain are not the roll models you think they are, they are playing with some very good players at Leigh and they stick out like sore thumbs in how inadequate their performances are, whatever it was Hardaker had is in the limbo of forgotten events and Chamberlain is simply not SL quality, but good luck to them both and to you Hull fans.

Ollie Holmes is reliable enough, and a fit John Asiata has not got any peers in a 13 jersey in SL, hopefully his injury woes are behind him.

Seems a lot of bitterness regarding Hull FC, Harry, especially from yourself and  the Leigh massive.  Hull will live or die by their purchases.

Personally, I wouldn’t have touched ZH but it is worth noting that not all teams are built from superstars.  Evidence of that is clear in SL and the NRL.

A more important thing to get right is the right hands-on coaching staff.  That, to me, is still way off.

I'm not sure there's any bitterness from Leigh fans barring maybe Asiata. The other 4 would have been planned departures this year anyway as we were always due a big refresh for 2025. 1-5 squad numbers were all over 30 and the concensus amongst fans long before any announcements or rumours were released were that Briscoe and Hardaker needed to make way for younger players.

The general feeling that I've seen is a bemusement that they are being picked up for SL rather than heading to the Championship and the length of deals being offered. 3 year deals are usually reserved for promising youth players and your key senior players, not utility squad players.

Hull FC have a glut of kids and I am unsure who they will keep.  Quite possible one/two don’t take their chance.  3 years for them would be a gamble.  Having said that, Balmforth has only been given a year and it’s been plain to see that he’s been SL standard for some time!

Like I’ve said, it’s Hull FCs problem but more to the point, hands on coaching is my concern.  I am hoping Cartwright brings his own staff.  It’s the first time I’ve ever criticised a coach but Grix just ain’t got it.

I’d be amazed if Hardaker makes it to the 2nd year of his deal. He’ll either be sacked or paid off

Yeah, I hope I’m wrong but I think he would be as well!  We can only imagine the number of added caveats at the bottom of his contract.

At least they have signed his driver on!

I don't think anybody's saying Zak Hardaker is a role model, least of all myself.

Chamberlain I liked during his brief loan spell with us earlier in the season. Conducted himself very well.

The situation with Balmforth was a real concern. I thought we were about to make a decision on a par with letting Josh Hodgson go all because he wanted a few more quid for his petrol money.

I have no bitterness whatsoever towards Hull FC LD and neither have I seen were TRL's from Leigh are also of that opinion, please point out what I have said that gives you that opinion.

In fact my feelings towards Hull are quite the opposite, I honestly believe they have done Leigh and those players a big big favour, Asiata would not have got that contract anywhere else on this planet, prior to this season I thought at the end of this season Hardaker would be heading for the Championship as Chamberlain would and also Briscoe who Hull took earlier in the campaign, albeit I would have taken a gamble on keeping Holmes but he has suffered a few injuries this season and not appeared in many games, good luck to all the player's and to the Hull Club, and I bear no malice towards them at all.

Roll model as in looking up to from youngsters for his present Rugby League ability Ullman, nothing to do with anything else that he has been admonished for.

Re Chamberlain, good I hope he goes well for you, he just doesn't fit into the Leigh set up and style of play for me.

I get your point and I think that's what Hull are hoping Hardaker will bring.

Like yourself, I'm not so sure but time will tell.

Elliott Whitehead finally, officially confirmed as back at Les Dracs in 2025.

Posted

Whitehead for one year. 35 years old. McNamara had him in Bradford in those years. Thinks a lot of him I think.

Did Hull bid for him?

He was outstanding first time around at Brutus.  Definitely get a good year from him though..  after that, not sure.  He’s played a lot of rugby and leaves everything on the pitch.  Champion player.

Been a fantastic player to watch in his time at Canberra. Has started to look a bit battle weary this year to me but I'm sure Catalans will get a decent year out of him.

Meltdown in Leigh imminent? Especially if Myler has been shopping in Lancashire again.

He clearly wants out, might be that two players that he's linked up with so well in Asiata and O'Donnell both leaving makes him wonder if next year at Leigh could be damaging to his chances of getting an NRL move. When he signed his contract this time last year, we all thought he'd be heading to NRL for 2025, seems to not be happening.

Either way, I'd be amazed if he was given a 2 year contract with a release clause after 1 year that applied to SL clubs. He's just trying to force a move. When that happens, they're as good as gone.
