I agree, if we are to stay at Wembley, we need to do it better. Unfortunately, RL events are cheap and nasty much of the time in this country. That didnt used to be the case, we led a lot of the way on adding some of the ancillary stuff, but now things like our presentation, entertainment, fanzones etc are poor. This is demonstrated by Alex Simmons DJ'ing again.

The Wembley final doesn't really have its own identity as an event imo, and it needs to be presented differently to other RL events, but we do just go through the motions.

On the moving point, it absolutely is a risk, but I do prefer moving it around - I liked Cardiff & Murrayfield being used, and I'd keep Wembley as part of any rotation.

I think the fact that we need to do it better is the main point here. If we move to Cardiff, Murrayfield etc... it won't be sold as well as it should be at those venues either.

I must admit, on a well known hotel site, the prices aren't that silly for this weekend. Obviously expensive, but you can get hotels for £150ish for the Saturday evening.

Agreed, my thinking here is that the rotation keeps it fresh and attractive to fans, whilst maintaining prestige. And I do believe those grounds may be more appropriate for the Challenge Cup Final tbh.

But they will only go so far in covering for us staging poor events.

To be fair everywhere does now for any big events, it was just back then no one expected it as it didnt happen for Wembley games, hadnt happened for the Edinburgh game etc.

I was in Glasgow last year and there were 3 big giggs on and the hotel room prices were extortionate, double and even treble normal prices.

Yes agreed...it's just annoying

It's why being able to drive in / near and drive out makes me feel so smug

Is that in places like Hounslow though?

Can get one at Wembley Stadium for £155, an apartment at Whitechapel for £150, multiple at Canary Wharf, and if you stretch to £180, there are plenty across the City.

At least he's not in the stadium this time. No-one at the RFL seems to be bothered about there still being videos on his YouTube channel featuring Wayne Godwin in blackface.

And dreamers like to talk about taking a final to Dublin. Dublin makes London look cheap when it comes to hotels and general costs.

Isnt Dublin one of the most expensive cities in europe? Without going all stereotypy imagine us northerners paying 12 euros for a pint over there 🤣

That does sound steep.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

England v Iceland this Friday has inflated the hotel prices

Imagining it is the only way you’ll get €12 off a Yorkshireman for a pint. €12 a gallon is more like it.

I wonder how much the decline in the game in London and the south contributes to lower attendance. Until 4-5 years ago I went to every CC final in a group of twenty plus London Bronco and Skolar fans and we bump into others we knew. Post Covid none of us have gone and all have pretty much fallen away from the sport. I wonder how many Londoners attend?

I'm sure the reduction of people regularly watching Broncos and Skolars is one of several factors that contribute to those 20k or so "missing" fans. Maybe it only contributes 2-3k of the decline overall, but every bit adds up.

There's also only been one international in London in the last seven years, also reducing the opportunity to engage, sell to and build habits with potential southern-based spectators.

Indeed and, of course, zero publicity down here.

Wakey are sending down 23 coaches and at the last club meeting there were at least 12 other private coaches going down LNER have put an extra train on so Wakey will be contributing quite well to the attendance

Just back off 2 weeks hols and my tickets haven't been emailed out yet. Anyone else having problems, and if so who did you contact?

I can confer that the problems described in the 10 pages of this thread were around in late January when I booked my tickets. We've been in Club Wembley for the past 4 years, and won't go anywhere else now. In January there were many blocks either sold out/not on sale or had very low availability - less than 5/10%. It was nearly impossible to buy 3 tickets together.

I emailed the ticket office and asked if blocks weren't on sale (they didn't answer this) and if there was 3 seats in Club Wembley, one an aisle seat, and I gave them 8 blocks that would be suitable. They replied back to say 3 seats together weren't available! After contacting the others, 2 days later I then went on the ticketing website and found a block with 3 seats that wasn't available previously. They are a farce

I booked post out tickets before Christmas and received them Friday, I added another in April as a print at home, that one came 2 weeks ago.

Assuming they are not in your junk mail, I'd phone RFL ticketing tomorrow morning, they may email them straight away or pick them up at the stadium

Cheers - I've emailed RFL Ticketing in the hope they will reply quickly, as I'm limited as to how long I can hang on to a phone call tomorrow morning

Their automatic email reply footer sums them up really - a link to RFL events in 2023!

There's only about 1000 available on their seating plan, what am i missing?

Do you need more than 1000?

The question should be are they 1000 tickets away from a sell out?

I doubt it.

They are 1000 tickets away (assuming you are correct) from meeting the current demand of attendees. That said, it is likely that some of the alternate rows strategy in open blocks is still in operation, so they will put those on sale if demand improves. If they need to, they will open more blocks, but as that costs money, they will avoid doing so. There are tickets available in all the ticket categories that could be sold in unopened areas of the ground. I don't see what the problem is?

If anyone wants to go, they can log on, buy a ticket and go. There is nothing stopping them doing that at this moment.

What do you propose they do? How effective do you think that would be? What would you expect the uptake to be 3 days out?

Rightly, there are moans and groans about general sales policies/strategies for RFL events etc, but unless the demand is there, why would they open additional blocks at this late stage?
