Whitehaven in financial trouble

Looked to be more than that there, not sure if that number includes the 150 free tickets that were donated by a sponsor.

If the sponsor paid for them, I'd expect them to be included.

If he didn't pay for them, he's not much of a sponsor, is he?

Real trouble now. Kyle Amor announced as coach 😜

What is there for him to do? They only trained once in the previous 2 weeks. It’s highly doubtful they will have 17 players available so team selection is relatively easy

Seriously it’s a strange appointment. He can’t bring any players in. He hasn’t got any coaching experience etc etc.

I can only assume it’s a means to an end. Get to the end of the season. Take stock and then decide how or whether to continue

Six games left - maybe a play-off - just what I thought.  Limp through to the end of the season.

It’s like trying to get home when the “limp home” warning light comes on in your car.

Well those 6 games just got more difficult as the team manager Des Byrne who is basically Mr Whitehaven has left, and not amicably.

It is a dreadful way to treat anyone let alone someone like Des who has put so many hours, all unpaid, into the club.

There comes a time when enough is enough and this is extremely close to that time when it would probably be best to close things down

It is painful to see what is happening at Haven. I hope they pull through one way or another.

With decisions like the one with Des Byrne I question whether they should pull through.

Yeah it sounds like a disgraceful way to treat him, very telling that a huge amount of current and ex players are replying to his post.

It’s a personal post which I’m sorry to have to write.
After Jonty left I thought long and hard about continuing in my voluntary role as Team Manager. I decided I would to support the players till the end of the season. Last night I received news that a Director was telling people I was getting sacked. This was confirmed by another couple of people this morning. I have no reason to doubt these people and that is backed up by another conversation I have had. Although quick enough to tell their friends none of the Board could pick a phone up and tell me. Well guys I’ll save you the bother.
It’s with a heavy heart I’m sad to say I’m stepping away from the role. Its’s a role I’ve thoroughly enjoyed over the years. I’ve met some great players and coaches, had lots of laughs and made friendships that last. The last three years have been the most difficult and eventually people reap what they sow in the way they treat their fellow humans.
Thanks to everyone I have had the pleasure of working with over the years and to all supporters for the support you give the team. I wish Kyle all the best in his position and hope the lads go on to prove that they are not a League One team. I’ll be on the terraces cheering them on.
No doubt the smear campaign will intensify but I can hold my head up high.
Des Byrne

It sounds like things are going from bad to worse with the players now apparently refusing to play under the current circumstances according to Kyle Amor ("For right now, it seems like that's it."). Really hope something can be sorted but it sounds very grim.

What a very sad state of affairs, You can’t blame the players for taking such a stance, as distasteful as it is. As a sport we seem to push the self destruct button far too often and others within the sport seem to relish it when it happens, Imam not saying that is the case this time but historically, rather than all pulling together for the common good. I feel sorry for the stalwart supporters past and present , one can only hope common sense will prevail in the end.

It all sounds awful at Whitehaven. I don't know the ins and outs but it sounds like a toxic situation at the club. I'm not a Whitehaven fan but even I'd heard of Des. I just hope someone can do something for this historic club. It'd be a crying shame to lose Whitehaven and the "rec". I love the ground. Please someone,do something 🙏.

I am not getting into the rights or wrongs because I have no idea of all the facts.

However, the thing that stands out is that Des Byrne has walked out on hearsay rumours, albeit from many credible folk.

I have to ask, why didnt he confront the board and ask them face to face about his position and if true make them state their reasons.

Can someone explain what's going on because it was only a few days ago some bloke was on video crying poverty saying he was the only board member and asking people to donate to the club. How has it gone from that to walk outs from staff and players. Seems a lot more to this situation than meets the eye.

There was a screenshot shared on a different post that seems to support Des’ comments. It was quickly deleted.

Also, knowing Des he would not have taken this decision lightly or without good evidence and knowledge that what he has posted is correct. The entire atmosphere has become poisonous over the last 72 hours.

Today will probably be D-Day. Either the Director(s) involved will resign which may, only may, lead to the players reconsidering or they will dig in and the club will fold.

Even if the players return I’m not sure that there will be enough to turn out a full team on Sunday. Getting 13 may be a push

In a nutshell some ex Directors returned which resulted in the coach leaving, primarily due to some of those individuals and how they have behaved previously and then the Team Manager left ahead of being sacked resulting in the players saying enough is enough and we are not playing unless things change.

And the club remains skint with any recently acquired goodwill having been used up
