No but if it wasn't for his money £££ Leigh wouldn't be where they are now.

And yet 10 years ago today we beat Fev in a Grand Final without his money

Well done Wigan gonna take some beating in the final really seem to have come good now all your players are back.

Commiserations to Leigh a game to much but given your early season injuries very well done on getting this far and another year of solid progress on a journey much like Rovers.

Will have to watch it back but personally I thought Field was comfortably the best player on the field watching it live. He's mixed his game up this year and because teams try and close him off, he is feeding those lads on his outside time and again. He's not been the best full back in Superleague this season but overall, he is the best IMO. When the biggest games come around he's a joy to watch.

Agree wholeheartedly with you- really surprised at the Walters choice.

Bevan French is just a joy to watch.  Him and Field are mesmerising at times. 👏

They are exactly what we want to see in our game with their pace, panache and style...love it

Having said that I hope they both get Covid during the week so we can see a new name on the trophy at last

Not 2020 style Covid but just enough to get them out of the 17

Oh, you've done it now! 😄😄

If either or both of them go down with it, we shall know who to blame.

We will find you!  😄😄

Leigh can also be optimistic for the incoming recruitment by looking at Field and French, both of whom were Lam signings (and he was very cruelly deprived of their services in his final year at the Piedome).

Just a pity he then seems to mock opposing players.

Not sure even Covid can lay a finger on Field or French.

A final featuring two great sides, one going for a quadruple in a season. Cannot wait.

He might not have been putting as much money in but 2014 certainly wasn’t without his money. He’d been putting money in for a while at that point.

Frustrating that we didn’t really turn up last night, and was a bit disappointed that the team selection was the predictable one and we tried the same system that has seen us fall well short of Wigan the last 6 times we played them.

That said, was largely indifferent to the result. Have felt for a while that there has been a gulf between the top 3 and the rest and only Warrington would get close to the top 2, and so it proved. Making the 6 felt like achieving the goal we wanted, and then winning at Salford meant we bettered last year’s finish.

Next year likely to be a year of transition, but hopefully an injection of pace in the team might help us cause the top teams a few more problems than we’ve been able to this year and last.

If my memory serves me well, it was Beaumont, Mazey and others putting money in. But pretty sure Beaumont put the majority in.

The NR cup win the year before was without that money though I think

He started paying wages in April 2013 after he was approached to help out when players were going unpaid. The consortium took over in 2013 I think before it DB took it forward solo. He was still sponsoring the kit prior to 2013 though so his moneys been going into the club in some form a good while now.

Fantastic professional showing from Wigan.

Leigh were running on fumes for a lot of that game. It's been a much tougher season for them than last year, but they still stayed in the playoffs longer than some more established giants of the SL era.

I think that's the word I'd use for how Wigan played last night. I think the most pleasing thing as a Wigan fan is the nil.

Fair play to Leigh and congrats on making more progress this season, it's nice to have another (usually) competitive local game to go with the long standing ones like St Helens and Wire.

Difficult test next week, and I'm not taking anything for granted against Hull KR - last time we played them I thought we got off lightly and took advantage of the yellow cards, but otherwise we were in real trouble IMO.

I think Wigan will absolutely ‘tater’ HKR.

The only team that can beat Wigan is Wigan.

Good luck to both teams but only one winner IMHO, and there only has been since the season kicked off !

That’s incorrect - without the input from Derek ( and others to a smaller degree) we wouldn’t have had a club to reach a GF v Fev

BTW a disappointing ending to a great end of season run. Never thought we would win and won a few quid taking Wigan at -12 . We lack pace out wide and with no second rows it was never on unless Wigan had a mare. I understand we have recruited well and have some blistering pace in 2025

Wigan are very very good in games like this. They are a better team than Leigh. Not too much controversy in that point, but it's very rare for Wigan to lose a big game against somebody a level below them. They are really professional and do that to teams, what they did last night, time and again. It's ruthlessly professional.

They can be kept in a close game by other good teams who need to be top of their game, and that's the hope next week (obviously not for Wigan fans!).  Hull KR have been excellent this year, it would be a shame if they didn't perform.

Very good. And let’s be honest, no team should ever be nilled. Even York managed to get on the board when they conceded 100 the other year 😉

Might be an idea to watch the clip again.

Bev was looking / laughing at Sam Walters, running in from the wing. He was probably shouting for a pass to complete his own hat-trick. Bit of banter with his own teammate. Nowt more to it than that.
