Let’s not forget how underhand and discriminatory union is towards league in many parts of the world. Let’s go nowhere near twickenham unless it’s accompanied by a letter from ‘world rugby’ acknowledging the existence of RL globally as a completely separate sport.

It still has the stench of apartheid and fascism clinging to it as far as I’m concerned

Exactly, why give money to the union ####. A tip of a ground and poor transport links out in suburbia, as well.

Spurs is the best ground, best ambiance, great novelty. Why go to Twickenham - a worse place in many ways - when Spurs and Wembley are much more iconic? The WC Twickenham opener in 2000 (2nd game played but the first on Grandstand had no one there hardly) in the pouring rain was less than half full and was an awful experience.

What needs to happen is for the 3 dates/grounds to be fixed early and then a huge and innovative effort to fill without stupid scrambling discount price panics.

By the way, I saw on social media somewhere a casual non-M62 guy saying he loved rugby league and would have gone to the 1st Wigan Samoa test but hadn't even been aware that it was on.

Wasn't the 2000 opener famously a disaster? Poor weather and a poor crowd, not on terrestrial TV, best forgotten.

I went that day and it was really bad rain and from memory, England only scored an Andy Farrell penalty?

One thing I found strange was that many people were mumbling that they wished it hadn't rained as they wanted to "do the proper Twickenham experience", which seemed to be (from what I could gather) eating a picnic out of the back of a Range Rover. Odd IMO.

No….No….and thrice No!  I went in 2000 for World Cup and 2006 for cup final.  Horrible soulless place and giving money to “that lot” for me is a non starter….

Watching the planes land and take off from the Renaissance Hotel was the highlight of the trip. As for the game, England well beaten infront of just over 30K while stuck in the lower corner of the West stand was a forgettable evening indeed. Twickers is best left as a one off.

If Wembley, Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham Utd, Chelsea, Fulham and Brentford football stadiums are unavailable, it would be worth considering. Otherwise, no.

It may have fulfilled a purpose at the time, but surely you wouldn't want it above a proper World Cup tournament?

I dunno. What is a proper world cup tournament? We seem to engineer the tournament and be reducing the numbers of teams involved to avoid 'embarrassing' scores.

A 'league' system, played over a number of years, and culminating with some sort of play off series with 5 or 6 big finals games in the deciding Autumn, would be great.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

If all those are unavailable we go to Stadium MK.

Not for me. I much prefer the current stand alone event lasting 4 or so weeks. That seems to be the format other sports favour too, which probably tells us something.

Under your system, wouldn't we just get embarrassing scores until we're left with the usual suspects for the play off anyway?

Although I've been to a couple of Collectormania's there and it was a good day out.

Probably loads of good reasons why it would not be a good idea; 'because other sports do it' is just about the worst reason I can think of for doing anything.

If you're going to stage a match in London then use the Queen Elizabeth stadium that West Ham are tenants of. I've been to two sold out Diamond League events there and it has a great atmosphere and superb transport links - the Elizabeth Line into the centre of the city can handle high load.

Definitely not Twickenham for countless reasons.

I've been to 2 internationals there and it's absolutely terrible for Rugby League.

I completely agree. It's inexcusable that the Ashes was treated in this manner.

Going forwards though, what is likely to be the plan? Is it going to be played at a regular interval, or just as and when it can be fitted in?

Given the restrictions (we now have regular World Cup tournaments and there is currently only one proper international window), I would accept it being played every four years. It could be decided each time whether it should be in the UK or Australia. If it means we hold two for every one the Aussies hold, then so be it. You've got to do whatever makes most sense. There's no point expecting the Aussies to host it if the interest isn't there.

Obviously if there ever was two international windows a season, well, that would be a game changer.

Beat them and they’ll be interested…
