  6. We've added a load more stuff to the archive recently as you can see from this article: https://www.fevarchive.co.uk/article/bigger-/ There are also biographies up as an introduction to all the 2023 Newbies (so far) including Chris Hankinson https://www.fevarchive.co.uk/players/chris-hankinson/1180/ and Elijah Taylor https://www.fevarchive.co.uk/players/elijah-taylor/1181/

  7. So, let's be clear, you want basket case, unsustainable (financially) clubs in SL?

  9. Im enjoying it even as a leeds fan, its great to have SL back. Anyway at least it looks like I can leave 10 mins early to get back on the dreaded M62 whilst Wire fans celebrate it being their year

  10. Enjoyable so far. I say that as a neutral... obviously if you're a Leeds fan then you may feel differently about that. Enjoying the presentation as well. Well done so far to Sky.

  13. First time back since the world cup lads. This will be my first proper full season I'm watching. Games on record so I might be catching up afterwards. Really looking forward to this.

  14. No ban for Mackenzie Yei after the MRP found that the initial contact was with the shoulder and chest and that there was no evidence of contact with the head. Presumably the Halifax commentator who thought it might have been a red card will be feeling suitably chastened.

  18. There is nothing wrong with the length of a rugby league game. 80 mins isn't a long period of time at all and is pretty much the perfect length to captivate attention.

  19. Most are carried over from last year. James Cunningham & Matty Marsh have got injured in the last two games. (Sorry to interrupt the "Why Bradford Should/Shouldn't Be In Super League" thread)

  22. I tipped Warrington to win the comp and am standing by it. Consider this. Daryl Powell is the best British born coach in the comp and now has the side he wants to put out as opposed to inheriting Steve Price's team. Warrington the big underachievers with big note players relying on inspiration without much of a work ethic. Powell knows the secret to success, as evidenced by St Helens and Wigan, is to have a culture based on perspiration as well as Inspiration. A culture of putting a shift in, based on a solid core of home grown players backed up by imports with a work ethic. Plus posters tend to forget Super League morphs at the end of the season into a cup competition. Can Warrington win from fourth - Definately. Are they a value bet for the Challenge Cup - Absolutely. The game itself was over by half time and always when you get a game like this the second half becomes 40 mins of garbage time. Still you would have got short odds on a 42-10 win on this board pre-game. As the song goes it's not how you start it's how you finish and I expect Warrington to finish strong. You read it first here.

  28. I hear you, 100%, I just don't think IMG are as siloed as all that implies? IMG production rolls up into IMG Media, Paul Kelly runs that, signed the RL deal and has fronted some press on it. Like all media and marketing shops, it's a collaborative biz with cross-unit project teams built for a case depending on the tasks. Either way, an IMG team of some form made it and that's all I meant really.

  29. A bit of light reading suggests that the word in question is maybe treated more seriously in the UK than many other places. I think your suggestion in the last para is sensible. However, McGuire is adamant that he didn't say it anyway.

  30. I think that's one of those things that feels instinctively fair but there are too many variables to make it workable. A slightly mistimed tackle that causes a player to roll his ankle on soft ground as he falls so he misses the season with ligament damage versus a deliberate high shot where the player passes the on pitch HIA for example.

  32. At last the new season can start and we can forget the dross we all endured last season. Against Bradford our style of play was better already and fingers crossed we have a competitive team in this league. We will be by no means favourites for the league but as long as we can play some decent stuff and maybe have a tilt at the play offs I'll be more than happy. As for the halves, we have to play Simpson & Walker there, before the season has even started why would we put square pegs in round holes? Marwood has to be our replacement hooker who comes on to exploit tiring forwards and spell Matty. I predict London 16 - Town 30. UTT

  35. Rovers still promoting the first game hard, good new content released most days this week. The North Stand, West Stand and The Well in front of the West are all sold out, few hundred left in the East Stand (will look full regardless) so place will be rocking when the Channel 4 cameras turn up. Wigan have sold their allocation too, fair play. We should break 10k again which I know seems no big deal to some but believe me for a club whose average attendance was just in the 5,000's when winning back-to-back league titles, and only 2,000ish in the lower leagues twenty years ago, the progress is great to see.

  37. Look at SL's, c4's and Sky's. Two of them are creatively the same. They both use clips from the black studio with flourescent lights and match clips. Sure there are different voice overs and telling a slightly different story, but as I say, I watched them on mute and thought they were the same videos, just different cuts. Sky's is its own thing.

  38. I'm certainly not an advocate for LI, I think it's toxic (and it does get a lot of criticism for that) I'm surprised it's still on and think it's a matter of time before it's kicked into touch. I don't know if you watch much Young Adult stuff on places like Netflix, but it always surprises me (and impresses me) how things just progress with little fuss. Some part scq of society will still complain about things like pronouns while many young people just crack on. Of course there are many varied segments of society, but from what I see youths are very different to 25 years ago when I was young

  39. Sky would factor their production cost savings into the price they’d be prepared to pay for content. So pay more, but we’d have overhead our side. Don’t really see a particular finance angle to this when it all nets out, the upside for us is control the decision for Sky is the classic outsource dilemma - do they value simplicity and moving cost risk over to a 3rd party, over some loss of control in content creation. They obviously already do outsource some programming production, but who knows how they’d see this scenario. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

  40. Let's put it this way - if you are a massive club, with regular on-field success, with huge crowds, a massive commercial presence, a huge media footprint and front-line sponsors and you can't make the numbers add up to pay your bills (x5) - you do not deserve to be in the top division of your sport.

  41. Replace what? A basket case club, who had big crowds, but still couldn't make the sums add up. Five times. It's not about replacing their crowds, it's about replacing them with a well run club, who have earned it on the field, whilst remaining solvent. That's what the game has done.

  42. I get the premise of twenty over cricket, eight hours, four days or five days are pretty long periods to commit to one match, so I can see the reasoning behind a shorter form of cricket. Rugby League is eighty minutes, that’s not exactly a long time (I appreciate some games go on far longer due to stoppages) and if we can’t captivate an audience for eighty minutes, we have major problems.
