St Reatham Posted June 18, 2016 Posted June 18, 2016 Steve McNamara's there too. The Roosters are in Auckland for tomorrow's match, I assume. Yeah, that was unexpected seeing them!
Farmduck Posted June 19, 2016 Posted June 19, 2016 What's worse? Watching a TV show and constantly saying to yourself, "My God this is dreadful," or then immediately watching the next episode? Rogue is a UK/Canuck production set in USA. It's a by-the-numbers undercover-cop-infiltrates-crime-gang-then-usual-stuff-happens. Now I normally like Canadian cop shows so I thought, "How bad could this be?" Well, I'm about to watch the final episode of Season 1 for the same reason many people attend funerals - to make sure the #### is really dead. Why did a Canadian show import a bunch of English (and NZ) actors to play the parts of the Yanks? Not a convincing US accent between the lot of them. Whoever did the casting must have got confused with their previous gig, casting models for a skinny jeans commercial. FFS Thandie Newton! You don't have to purge after every meal! The current Season 4 is currently running and I just wanted to get some background on the characters. I needn't have bothered. It turns out they really are all as deep as a cigarette paper and as original as the sun setting in the west. This is not a show for anyone looking for stimulating or even interesting entertainment. This show should only be used at places like Guantanamo Bay and then only when waterboarding has ceased to produce results.
Futtocks Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Crank up the iPlayer and watch the Porton Down programme that was on BBC4 tonight (9pm - 10pm). Frightening but utterly fascinating. Futtocks Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Tonight on BBC4, all three episodes of Punk Britannia, back-to-back. Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Bedford Roughyed Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 Trainspotting live on BBC4. Can't really describe it... With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
Amber Avenger Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Trainspotting live on BBC4. Can't really describe it... If it's anything like the film, probably best you don't. Griff9of13 Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 If it's anything like the film, probably best you don't. Trainspotting the film was a great watch. This however... "it is a well known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it."

Bedford Roughyed Posted July 12, 2016 Author Posted July 12, 2016 Express yourself. I'm not sure I'd be on the right track. longboard Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I'm not sure I'd be on the right track. We can gauge that.
Mark S Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Been watching Billions on Sky Atlantic, great acting from all performers.
Ullman Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Just noticed The Titfield Thunderbolt has already been on an hour. ###### "I'm from a fishing family. Trawlermen are like pirates with biscuits." - Lucy Beaumont.

Ullman Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 That's what the BBC iPlayer (or the SquarePenguin get_iplayer) is for. Yes, I'll be using that rather nifty technology. Didn't even know it was a colour film. I'd only ever seen it in black and white before. The quality was very good. "I'm from a fishing family. Trawlermen are like pirates with biscuits." - Lucy Beaumont.
Old Frightful Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I'd only ever seen it in black and white before. And what the bloody hell's wrong with that? "You've only won one trophy SINCE 1985"
Phil Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 Anyone been watching NRL Rookie? "Freedom without socialism is privilege and injustice, socialism without freedom is slavery and brutality" - Mikhail Bakunin
Wiltshire Rhino Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) Willow is on Ch5 at 4.35pm today. I remember seeing it at the cinema and enjoying it. Haven't seen it since. Hope it lives up to my (28 years ago) memories of it, which are as "an underrated gem". Edited July 17, 2016 by Wiltshire Rhino 2014 Challenged Cup Winner
Futtocks Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 (edited) 'Willow' is a pretty good movie. Val Kilmer has a lot of fun with his character. Edited July 17, 2016 by Futtocks Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Ralph Waldo Emerson
Ullman Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 And what the bloody hell's wrong with that? Nowt whatsoever Not sure I could enjoy an Ealing comedy in colour? Just my initial thought The steam locos looked good. "I'm from a fishing family. Trawlermen are like pirates with biscuits." - Lucy Beaumont.
Griff9of13 Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Nowt whatsoever The steam locos looked good. The star of the show, The Titfield Thunderbolt is Lion which started its life in 1838 on the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. It is now in the Museum of Liverpool. C H Calthrop Posted July 17, 2016 Posted July 17, 2016 Not sure I could enjoy an Ealing comedy in colour? Just my initial thought Quite a lot from that time were in colour, the ladykillers for one.
Bedford Roughyed Posted July 17, 2016 Author Posted July 17, 2016 One Night in 2012. Great documentary on the Olympic opening ceremony. A hark back to a more optimistic time? With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!
