Great news!, looking forward to seeing how this ends up.

Terrible way to exit from the Women's World Cup, when England had played so well.

Gutted. Not quite RL World Cup semi final levels of guttedness but still pretty bad.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Brutal way to lose but also shows that by 90 minutes the players were tired - that's a desperate way to defend and 99 times out of 100 you'll be fine but it was the wrong way to try and block the attack.  The close up photos of her show just how gutted she will always feel.  I doubt she cares overly that most of the sporting world, a few twitter trolls aside, immediately were 'there for her'.

First round of Europa League matches last night.  The 2015/16 season has begun.  I seem to remember at the end of last season on Baker & Kelly they'd worked out that between now and something like 2019, provided you include rep U19 and women's matches, there wasn't a single day without soccer.

Euro 2016 next year.  That'll be fifty years of hurt for Baddiel and Skinner to lament.

Well done England.  Great penalty (in the face of some very dodgy unsporting behaviour) by Fara Williams.

To be fair, both sides were pretty physical, and neither side whinged too much when they got knocked about.

England will be buoyed up for the European Championship, and Germany will be desperate to set things right - looks set for a tasty reunion next time they play.

I love that all the comments under the articles about women's football are full of the 'no histrionics, no nastiness, no diving' mantra.  Were you not watching - or were you so enrapt by the sight of Louise Necib that you forgot to concentrate?

Great that the two teams took the play off game seriously.  Some properly tasty challenges and both teams had chances away from the penalty.  Cool as you like to bury it though - and a great feeling to finally emerge from a game like this (in all sports and both genders) with the honours.  Third place isn't the title but it's so far ahead of where England were in the Hope Powell wildnerness years.

The alleged comedian Lee Nelson is normally as funny as swallowing your own vomit, but credit where credit is due for showering Sepp Blatter with fake banknotes at today's press conference.

Talking of Hull Tigers, I am currently at the Royal Campoamor Golf Hotel and Hull AFC are here too.

In a further bit of name dropping I am renting a house which is next door to Jimmy Case's place in Torrevieja.

I used go on the driving range there with my dad before he passed away the other year. It's a lovely place to have a spot of lunch too.

And Leeds have sacked Uwe Rosler.

Well he has had until the middle of October in the job. Loads of time to develop a promotion chasing team... ;)

I've got some mates who are Newcastle fans. I feel a bit sorry for them.

Then again, I've got a mate who is a Makem. He is keeping very quiet! When your team is worse than your nearest neighbours, Newcastle, your team is really bad!
