Why can't we discuss Leighs rebrand? (Merged Threads)

It's an RL variation on the "doing X to own the libs" viewpoint that basically says at long as it annoys people you don't like then it's good. In this case, it appears to be: everyone in rugby league who isn't a devoted fan of Beaumont is the libs.

And, to be honest, given that's the attitude that flows from much of the legacy RL media, it's not a surprise to see them promoting Beaumont.

Because as with most media, they want clicks and people are far more likely to read/interact with a story they are outraged with. The very fact this page 15 of the 4th or 5th thread of people generally going round in circles vs any one of the numerous good news threads that get 1 or 2 comments then slip down the forum. If you don't like it, don't engage with it or you are just perpetuating the cycle.

Surely he can see his social media posts are attracting these reactions which in turn are quite clearly drowning the positive news coming out of the club.

No real news will be coming out until the Nene transfer is resolved and we are able to announce the 2 real BIG signings at the second push on ST sales. There will be at least 10k there v Salford - it may even be a sell out.

What are these big signings you’re making?

You’ve no quota space

Ones a massive sign that says “Frank from South Africa says it’s a leopard, not a jaguar” and the other is the bloke who’s going to wear the mascots costume.

Don't forget the "You are now entering Super League Territory" road sign too, been dusted off I'm sure.

Del is confident, and he has a team of professionals that can finally lead his club to better climbs.

Tell us more about this "team of professionals".

Let's start with an easy one: who is the Chief Executive of Leigh?

Everything we see coming out of the club strongly suggests it's the work of the owner who either hasn't got good people around him or who has but doesn't let them do their jobs properly, including telling him some truths.

If a club does an amateurish rebrand (which will have to be redone very quickly to meet IMG requirements) and that club also doesn't have a website then it's not hard to think that these things aren't given priority or budget. How has the chief exec allowed this to happen? There isn't much sign of professionalism behind the scenes as far as we can see.

Beaumont appears to think he can build a club on BS. It takes money and stability and patience and time, none of which seem to be things he's interested in devoting to it. Is there actually any real money being invested, away from players salaries?

Unusual for the forum, I know, but I'm right behind the Leopards re-brand and the noise the club is making. Gives your fans something to get behind and to cheer about.  "Noisey neighbours" and all that.  Are the club's cheerleaders on here going to give up poking fun at Wigan? Nope. Are posters on here going to give up poking fun at Leigh? Nope.

Just count yourselves lucky you are not Wildcats or Giants. Look at the (friendly) abuse they have suffered on here since the forum started and you'll realise Leigh have got off quite lightly.. .so far.

This is just an inane ramble. Rebrand not meeting IMG requirements? So, bumped down a grade because IMG don’t like the badge?!

The question for the OP should really have been "Why would we discuss Leigh's Re-brand?"

The fact that banter is the verbal version of that guy that plays for Leeds where Baz says he plays close to the edge, but half the stadium think he crossed the line seasons ago. Some of what's said is funny, and some very clever and a few applaud and enjoy the effort made. Then there's the rest.

Finding everyway you can to criticise and calling positive comment at this level means you'll have rehabilitate yourself on a stupid challenge show with Ant & Dec at some point.

No matter how much an owner/chairman gets wrong the fact that they support RL to the tune of huge sums of money and often as not keep clubs in existence so their reward  from us is more verbal abuse than we'd aim at politicians.

That's fair!

Some proper Bull poopooh in that statement - are you really that clueless? It was folk like you who killed TW and will kill any 'new' club with ambition.

The board at Leigh Leopards currently is DB, Mike Latham - Chairman, Richard Renda - sales and Mktg, Gill Wood - communications and planning. Hope that helps

Maybe, just maybe, you are not their target.

Irrelevant.

If you think the rebrand is an exercise in good marketing and communications that’s up to you.

I mean look at the reaction from their target market who at this point don’t even have a club website or online store to visit

Anything above a 7k average next season would be a success. Staying up though is the biggest priority. Let him enjoy himself and lets hope that RL finally gets on the map in regards to attendances next year because it has been boring and flat for good while now !

And I think they will achieve 7k at least ...probably by being near lower mid table

If you have them the relative success of Salford over last few seasons I could see them breaking more

It's one of the reasons I feel Leigh should be in over Salford anyway....it appears the reds devils are stuck on about 4k regardless of how much they win on field ....better suited to Champ especially when they move to Moore Lane

The reaction of the Target market has been largely very positive. Great sponsorship and ST sales - which market should we be judged on and how?

No you’re right the rebranding has been executed really well, honest.

Im glad sponsors and ST sales are going well - this could be the SL effect and on the back of a decent looking squad though and not down to the rebrand.

the whole RL community including the pans have been taking the mickey.

Best of luck for the new season, and I honestly mean that.

You seem very confused over whom a clubs target market is and how the reaction should be measured - I wish you well in overcoming your problems, I really do
