Agree it's a very unfortunate clash though. A very unfortunate clash but delighted with this development - it's the next best thing! @GavWilson
Clarence Street Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 I'm wondering if season ticket holders get a discount code to be able to watch the game back on Our League after the game? (Assuming we WANT to watch it again!!)Ā

spanishknight Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 See Barrow have brought in Amir Bourouh and James Greenwood on DR from Salford, both are expected to play at York.
Fax Knight Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Amir an old teammate of Riley Dean in their junior days at Siddal. Always was a tough, nuggety kid. Holroyd and Smithies were in that team and they lost twice in 8 years. Even then by the smallest margin. Won the Yorkshire Cup playing a year up! Never been done before.Ā
White Knight Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Good to get a few players back tomorrow. I feel itās one we must win.Ā Should be a good game. Knights by 14. Beer and York Knights. Proof the God loves us and wants us to be happy.
HaxbyKnight Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Skybet have the Knights as 1/6 favourites for this afternoon. Barrow have a 16 points start on the handicap. I'll settle for any win to et us back on track.

Puk Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Great start to the game today playing rugby from inside your own 10 and scoring in your first set.The rest of the half was even and certainly not helped by the ref.Second half even when we were down to 12 players thought we looked more disciplined as a team and in control of the game against a average Barrow team.Special mention to Thompson who was magnificent and led from the front with his carries.
Fax Knight Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Started like a house on fire, but then let them into the game. What a great signing Thompson has been. Immense player who would run through a brick wall. Ā Not quite sure why we spell Bailey when he can play 80 mins? Surely switch Kirmond to prop and spell him more? Some nice touches from Higano, but he didnāt look 100%. Backs still not quite gelling. Think Daley gives us some good go-forward, so donāt understand why he doesnāt get more game time? But still more than the 4 minutes heād have got from Ford. Still a win is a win. Onwards and upwards.Ā
RBKnight Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Pleased to see us playing the ball faster (and with more variety) under Hendo, allied to a faster pack of forwards. Some poor 5th tackle options didn't help our game control, and made the game closer than it should have been - but that can be fixed.
YCKBob Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Considering the injury situation and lack of bodies at the start of the season I'm much encouraged by how things are looking under Hendo. No disrespect to any previous coaches but Im enjoying the greater pace and intensity we're playing. It will take some time but when he has chance to bring one or two of his own players in to add to the squad we should be challenging again.
Roger York Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Started really well today but I felt after that played a little nervously.Ā I donāt know what Kirby got sin binned for but itās extremely stupid to get sin binned when we have the ball and we got punished straight away. The second half we looked more composed Ata was lacking match fitness but showed some class and when he gets up to speed again is going to cause some problems. Our kicking was good causing I think 3 drop outs. We are getting there plus injured players to come back things are looking promising. Ā
AB Knight Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Attendance given as 1525. Not the best but a few mitigating factors - the Heworth game will have knocked it down, it was live on Our League plus (and this isnāt a dig at Barrow as we arenāt blessed with the biggest away support ourselves) probably the lowest away turn out at LNER apart from when weāve played London.

Puk Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 For whatever reason we can't seem to attract supporters to watch the knights compared to York city who are regularly getting 4000 a game to watch the 5tier of football and i know it doesn't help when the game is shown on a live stream ,but if we are serious as a club we need to start building our fan base to 2500 so we can compete with the likes of Featherstone and Bradford .
Fax Knight Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 Agreed. They are pathetic numbers for a major northern city who have had an RL club for over 100 years. But how do we attract more people? What do tens of thousands of people in the York area do on a Sunday afternoon in February? Is B&Q rammed? Are they all wandering around a city centre where most places wonāt even be open or will shut at 4pm? Why do far more prefer to watch a pretty dire level of football instead?Ā
georgeb1 Posted March 1, 2023 Author Posted March 1, 2023 The club has stated they will improve the match day experience to increase attendance numbers and improve revenue, we get the royal rumble at halftime plus a brass band that plays randomly on the touchline , greatĀ , both Warrington and Leigh have had high profile pop groups performing before games plus fireworks and high quality lightshows, if we aspire to match these teams in the future on the field the one thing we can do is beat them off the pitch.
Nige Arro Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 You forget rugby league is a minority sport, only the sensible ones amongst us watch league.Ā
