Whippet13
Back with the old NRL opener in the USA story, Vegas this time. https://www.foxsports.com.au/nrl/nrl-premiership/nrl-planning-biggest-event-in-rugby-league-history-in-las-vegas/news-story/cf858e5fd49a2792c7cefce021abe276 The blocker is probably financial risk rather than player risk, as I have no doubt they would love to do it.
langpark
Oh dear, and it's not even off-season for these stories to be appearing! USA, Dubai, China, have been on rotation of the same story for the last 20 years.

Might dust off my view that we would get 'proper halfbacks' again if we went back to a 5m rule. 1 I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. Today's halfbacks are all at sixes and sevens.
fighting irish
So tell me, what's the forums conclusion here? Do you believe this is just click bait, or is there any truth in the story? If it is a fabricated story, then don't they (FOX) realise that ''crying wolf'' negatively affects their credibility, lowers the average quality of their output, reveals a certain amount of contempt for the readers/listeners, harming the relationship with the fans and tends to put people off responding (clicking) in future. The coverage here today, of the ''Franchise RL'' story is of a similar ilk. Don't our editors/marketing people realise the harm it does? We hear so much talk about the necessity of professionally marketing our game but these short term tactics are anything but professional. Is it really that difficult to do some cursory checks about the validity of a story before rushing to print? My heart aches for the NRL, IRL, and/or the RFL to get involved in America, to assist them in pulling all the loose threads together and then pushing for expansion but please media, stop lieing to us. The article title "Biggest event in RL history" rings alarm bells. They'll do it if the sums add up and it's no financial risk to the NRL - I suspect they will want someone to finance it. If it does happen, expect NRL clubs to bleat about needing a shorter International window as this eats into pre-season. At the moment it's no more than a nice all expenses paid fact-finding holiday for some senior NRL executives.
Copa
V’landys is well connected in the gambling industry and i have no doubt this is all connected to trying to get a foot in the door of the US sports gambling industry.

Sadly, this is seems to be the focus from my understanding. Less to do with growing the game, more about can we make some cash. Nothing wrong with that of course, apart from it's the wrong way round. Madrileño
It sounds tasty, but no more than England vs (an understrength) France at Warrington. Both hemispheres are really going for it in terms of ambition, and should be applauded for it.

To be fair the NRL regularly stage Pacific Islands Tests at the crumbling Leichardt Oval.
