Is it time for some silly season threads

Recommended Posts

Now we are in the off season, is it time to start some silly discussions.

I will start with the question which person from history would you like to have seen play Rugby League?

I am going with Angus MacAskill.  Born in the 1900's, he has some astounding feats of strength (which may well have been exagerated) but he is recognised as being the tallest non-pathological giant and the largest true giant in recorded history at 7 feet 9 inches (236cm) and 193 kg's (30st 5lbs).

As a non-pathological giant, it means his size was not caused by a growth dissorder and so unlike many giants, his strength would be proportional to his size.

I think he would have made a good prop... or maybe a winger in the modern game!

Andre the Giant

To put it into context, Angus MacAskill is the same height taller than Andre the Giant than Tom Burgess is to John Bateman.

I reckon Asterix the Gaul would have been quite handy at stand off.

Not to mention his teammates - Setasix, Fifthtacklekix, Placekix and Dropkix.

Would be a decent carrier I am sure but how the heck would he tackle legally?

I know it's silly season but god damn it you have to think Dunbar!!
