And still the supporters have no idea what’s going on.

What a f***ing shambles my club is.

Is it Smith or Pearson Hoy's father is referring to in his comments?

I have to say Hoy’s Dad’s comments on social media are comedy gold. I’m not sure I’d want my Dad doing that if I ever had problems at work, but still suggests all is not well in the house of Toys Out Tony…

I like Tony Smith, as would any Warrington fan, but his strengths lie in taking a ready-built team of star players (like he had at Leeds and Warrington) and tweaking the style to produce trophy-winning sides.    Whenever he’s tried to build his own team (like his last few years at Warrington, or the two Hull clubs) it just hasn’t worked.

Hopefully his next venture will be something like his earlier positions, because it sure as hell isn’t going to work out at Hull FC.

He got the Leeds gig on the back of the building he did at Huddersfield, took a team who finished bottom 4 years running and were a shambles, won promotion with an unbeaten season and put together a fine, tough squad and consolidated in Super League, Leeds saw him as the man to win them trophies instead of a big money/big name coach, they were right.

His reputation was built from the team he built at Huddersfield!

I think it's unlikely at the moment. Interest in Armstrong cooled, because freeing up the overseas spot would mean releasing / paying off Ben Nakubuwei, while Amone, Mulhern, Asiata, Holmes and Wilde are all injured.

That said, Nakubuwei being directly involved in 2 Wigan tries within 5 minutes of coming on the other night might help sway that decision, but Lam seems to rate him.

Who would you suggest which club has a team of ready built star players who would take him on?

Is young Jack Walker injured again? I really like the look of Davy Litten as well. Two good players to step up if Hoy does go.

He is indeed, not sure when he's due back but it was good to see him in the East Stand mingling with the young fans before the game on Saturday. Davy Litten played and scored a try for the Reserves on Friday who in some kind of irony put 50 points past Huddersfield Reserves the day before the first team conceded a half century. In the circumstances I expect we'll see him back in the first team before too long but one of the (many) problems we've got is that the young players are having their confidence knocked playing in a first team that gets hammered as a matter of routine.

You're question highlights how poor the club's recruitment and retention has been. Before a ball was kicked it was obvious the balance of the squad was all wrong. We've got umpteen full backs and hookers but virtually no real half backs. We can only hope that releasing Hoy gives us the opportunity to redress that but I don't have much faith in us getting it right at the moment.

Pretty sure they don't have quota space.

Seems the only Super League sides with spots left on overseas quota are Warrington & London.

Warrington don't really need him, so unless a side gets rid of a player for him , surely London are the front running. Especially given that they are, reportedly, £700k under the salary cap currently.

Ironically he only got a SL gig because you had to be an ex NRL coach or coach of an international team at the time IIRC. He was the coach of Japan!

I haven't seen him do anything notable whatsoever in any games I've watched. If he's a rotten apple then get rid.

He’s been one of the better players in a very poor team IMO. If he has a bad attitude then Hull didn’t do their research very well or he’s only just developed it seeing as he’s been there since before the 2023 season.

If he's their best player, then it explains why they're so poor. He's bang average and has looked worse than average this year.

I'm curious what's gone wrong with Davy Litten. He seems overlooked this year, in place of Martin who's not impressed. He's surely a better option at full back too. Has he fallen out with Smith?

FWIW their best player is Trueman, who is very injury prone

Litten has been left out for confidence reasons once but otherwise has been either 18th man or injured.

Missed out on half back signings closed season.

Hookem is a case that has puzzled me.  England academy representative half back who is on his 6th club at 21 years of age.  We have to back these kids and take the pain of waiting for them to mature.

The Leeds team he inherited wasn't a team of star players by any stretch of the imagination. In retrospect it was  obviously full of very talented young players but that didn't stand for much at the time and wasn't a guarantee of future success.

Smith both backed those players and gave them the confidence to win things. I don't believe Leeds would have won half the amount we did in the subsequent 13 years without the attitude and culture that he put in place.

One swallow doesn't make a summer, as they say. Every time I've watched him play he's done next to nothing on attack despite showing some fancy glimpses, and then made some very half-hearted defensive efforts. Bottom line is if he was playing really well then he'd be in the team ripping it up every week, and Hull would be much the better for it. But he isn't, and they're not. Reading some of the comments on twitter defending him and slating Smith/Hull, it sounds like they're describing James Tedesco! But from my experiences watching him he seems more like Hull's equivalent of Latrell Mitchell... Doesn't do anywhere near enough good stuff, especially considering that he's probably one of Hull's higher paid players.
