One thing that I've always thought that RL has lacked is a song for our national team. Football has Three Lions and Union has Swing Low.

So here we are. What are we going to be belting out on the terraces against Samoa? What will they be booming through speakers on England's World Cup winning open top bus parade in 2026? What will reach No1 in the charts every time a major tournament is on the horizon?

Feel free to make silly, sarcastic or if you're feeling adventurous, even serious suggestions on your choice for England RL's anthem.

In all seriousness I think the trouble with this is we don't have a core England fanbase or enough fixtures to do this. At England games there is always a feeling of no one knows quite what to do or shout. Playing in various different venues to largely new fans every time doesn't help with that. Neither do low crowds and low key fixtures.

Agreed, and I don't think this is particularly any better for GB either.

This is why it's so important that England/GB play regularly, in the same strong venues/cities, at regular times.

I'm dieing to see them playing regularly, but one of the ways we could boost performances and enliven the crowds is to stop singing ''God save the king, or the queen'' for that matter. Billy Connoly was right, even the theme song to the Archers would be better.

Simply silly. It's the national anthem. I won't say any more on the matter to avoid this being dragged to the AOB.

I know it's the national anthem. (Did you think I didn't?). What I'm suggesting is we get a new national anthem and if not stop singing this ridiculous one.

It would help if the National Anthem were played about 20,% faster than currently, to take it out of the"dirge" category and into the  "spritely". category.

Anthems worldwide have controversial and ill- favoured lyrics.

Grab your weapons, citizens!
Form your battalions!
Let us march! Let us march!
May impure blood
Water our fields!

God Save the King is not the National anthem of England, it's the national anthem of the UK. The constituent countries do not have the national anthems but England is the only nation to use God Save the King. It's often raised that we should change it to either Jerusalem or Land of Hope and Glory.

Maybe not appropriate for England due to the heritage but for Great Britain, Auld Lang Syne sums up how unlikely we are to meet Australia again quite nicely.

Arthur, not Henry. Henry was the Proms guy.

Given the average TRL member's world view, maybe we could license "It's the End of the World as we know it" from R.E.M.
