If you're having a double header, it should be at Wembley (or at least in London) for the 1st Test. I'm actually not against a double header for a 1st Test in London, with the 2nd and 3rd games being help seperately when it moves north and you have a better choice of grounds in the heartlands.

In fact, I'd probably play the wheelchair game on the same Saturday too, because if you're going to the 1st test, you might get some people staying on for an evening wheelchair match.

Yep, no need to reinvent the wheel.

London, Manchester, Leeds.

I think London going on second is a safer choice because usually we don't advertise, so the first game being on the BBC will be the only advert we get.

I'm hoping for a different approach on the marketing/advertising approach whichever order the matches are in.

It'll just be based on what the BBC want you'd imagine but hopefully they can push for evening kick offs. I think back to the Ashes series in the early 2000's and images of the players with steam coming off their heads come to mind. It just feels right and in the modern day with all the light and laser shows and the like, it would really help with the atmospheres, which in truth have been flat as a pancake at internationals for a while (although that will naturally improve against Australia even if we play them at 9am).

Any evening at a big ground doesn't work due to transport and/or costs of hotels to attract enough fans. Sat 3pm for all unless you go to 25k stadia

England football seems to fill Wembley in the evenings alright. Fans from all over the country come,  watch match and go home, no need for hotels.

England football would fill Wembley on a Tuesday at 6am.

Pointless comparison.

Would they? Even England Football very rarely fill Wembley, which illustrates the task at hand when it comes to Rugby League trying to do so.

I like the idea I saw mentioned, which was to play the London test in the daytime and then maybe to get the other two on around 5/5.30pm. That way people could do the day in London if they wanted to and later kick offs in Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool etc shouldn't be too much of an issue, with many people driving or being on trains/coaches. An evening kick off wouldn't impact on any game at Elland Road and I don't think it would have major implications on other Northern venues (other than Newcastle).

To back this up: last two men's internationals were 10,000 and 20,000 short of capacity. The Lionesses v Germany didn't break 50,000 this time around.

I know, because it's one of my other worlds, that transport home was a key issue around the Lionesses game in particular.

What about the 1992 WC final? I seem to recall that got around 73k at Wembley..

Yes, missed that one, it was 73k

LOL. I'm helping my son move flat in London tomorrow as he's broken his collarbone. From here, it's a 12 hour round-trip by car if things go well, or a very expensive and unreliable train journey.

OK fair enough, I'm not very clued up on that situation but surely it being a one off game against an extremely saturated international football market makes a difference.

I think this is just a wrong interpretation of Rugby League's market. Yes the London game should be in the afternoon but for the two northern ones an early evening kick off would be ideal.

It just seems a bit weird when we have the Grand Final in the early evening and get our best crowd of the season.

I think I’d prefer an afternoon kick off for the two northern games but I’ll be going to both either way

When will Big Picture pop up to tell us that England believing a country that isn't even in the world's top 50 by population will be a boost to rugby league just reveals how tin pot everything is?

ROFLMAO, Australia is a major world sporting nation despite that and everyone knows it.  The Aussies routinely do well in the Olympics, and they're a top nation in both cricket and RU and competitive in basketball too, Australia's sporting profile is far above those of tiny countries like Fiji, Samoa and Tonga.

Outside the top 50 in global population. It just shows up those sports as being tinpot. Come along to a proper global sport like handball and Australia can't even make the world finals.

1st Test - London (Spurs). 1600hrs KO.

2nd Test - Leeds (Elland Rd). 1800hrs KO.

3rd Test - Manchester/Liverpool (Eithad/Everton). 1800hrs KO

I would normally go Elland Rd 3rd Test sick to death of us getting stuffed there in a decider. So flip it around.

First test Spurs, second at Headingley – whether we win or lose the first, getting those Kangaroos intimidated by a packed house close to the pitch could just see us home (and it gives us a chance to stick up an enticing "SOLD OUT" banner up during ticket sales) – third at Old Trafford.

Headingley is way too small for the Ashes, and Old Trafford is unsafe.

Id go

1st test London (THS or Wembley)

2nd test Etihad

3rd Elland Road

I hate ER but I think it would sell out even if the series is already decided

London game after noon kick offs the other two 6pm all on Saturdays

Understood. Travelling was the case for some at the Cup Final and the high attendance RWC finals quoted. Having it at Wembley is less about northern RL fans and more about home counties sports fans sweling the ranks, in my view.

Usual fantasy island dreams of getting nigh on full houses at the big football stadiums always leads to half capacity or less which looks awful on telly. Keeping it real and take yer pick from Bolton, Wigan, Hudds, Hull, will be lucky to sell any of them out unless by some miracle England can sneak one of the first two setting up a decider.

What is this obsession about how it looks on telly?

40,000 at Wembley is better than 25,000 at the DW.
