Thirkhill and Hood have a combined wealth of half a billion. The new stadium rumours are going to start now. For now I'd take a massive statement signing to help the membership sales push towards Christmas.

This has to be good news for Hull FC. He has seemed a reluctant owner to say the least.

Onwards and upwards hopefully. I know we've all said it many times over the years but Hull FC have been a sleeping giant for far too long now and a resurgence would be great for the game.

It felt a bit like Hull FC were getting left behind by not having an owner who was able to properly invest in the club. There are very few clubs who are self sustainable and hopefully this will allow Hull FC to start going in the right direction, much in the same way that the likes of HKR and Leigh have done. It's a worry that we seem to be in an era where you simply must have a rich benefactor willing to prop the club up, to really thrive but you look across the league and most clubs do now have people with some money behind them. Hopefully by investing in the clubs and seeing relative success, we can see losses start to come down and clubs at least looking like they're in a position to stand on their own feet.

Wow! That is fantastic news for the club and the game.

Reading about Gary Schofield’s tragic health issues, the list of truly great Hull FC players he played alongside caught my eye: I consider myself very fortunate to have seen the exquisite brutality of Knocker Naughton, the Alf Tupper brilliance of Mick Crane, and the genius level game management of Topliss.

If those days are going to return, then the big game has just got a lot bigger!

I don’t know enough about the new businessmen to comment authoritatively, but looking at their combined net worth they seem to be in the Danson rather than Lenaghan level of rich.

That brings with it massive advantages - time and the ability to invest on day 1 for a start, but also the ability to invest to make returns. Everything about Wigan (save for the ticketing teething issues) is better under Danson, which brings about a virtuous circle.

Better coaching, better medical support; better facilities, better players, all work together to make watching the team more enjoyable. Better players, better marketing, better merch, better experience for sponsors, which grows the commercial side massively. Thus, you get a higher quality team, and make more money.

I know it’s easy for me to say from a position of unprecedented strength in the SL era, but it is a joy to renew season tickets when you are paying for you and yours to watch Field, French, Thompson, Nsemba…

Good luck to FC!

We knew that investment was coming, we didn't expect that the club would actually have new owners. Great news. Pearson on balance has been good for the club but it was clear he couldn't sustain it anymore.

Only a minor point, but you could re name this to say “FC has been bought by ultra rich businessmen”, which is arguably the more exciting element… I went into it fearing the worst but came out buzzing.

Hull FC really have been a bit of a basket case for a good few years now, it would be brilliant if they could start to fulfil some of that potential. They really should be right up there challenging the very best.

Great news for fc and rugby league a strong fc is good for the game.

Having Rovers and fc challenging for honours will just send both clubs rivalry through the roof and hopefully attract more spectators to our great sport.

Excellent news, FC should be and now could be one of the premier clubs in SL.

I believe that this will also be good for KR, more publicity interest in the city and what could turn into an even rivalry rather than the one is up one is down scenario.

Yes hopefully they will be able to bounce back now and start to slam dunk a few two-pointers.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I’ve always thought FC should (considering their size) be challenging Saints and Wigan. I really gone this move strengthens them on the field as we need more teams who are able to compete with those two, even as a passive Saints fan I find the Wigan/Saints GF dominance of the last few years dull.

What might have been. 🥲

Who'd have guessed this when the Skelton-Myler split was in the papers a few years ago. At least he has a job for life.

How big can the Robins’ ground get?

Plenty of room for growth hopefully replace the west stand in the not to distant future it's certainly been talked about by the club.

I think the key to it is our crowd Base staying at near or sell out levels and making sure any further increase in capacity doesn't detract from atmosphere of full stadium.

As a Wire fan I’m actually glad to see this.  The sport only has 4/5 “viable” big clubs and we need FC to be back as one too, as they’ve been a shell of a club for 2/3 years now sadly.

Really big move for the sport that has probably been coming for some time. Pearson just didn't seem to have the finances or frankly determination by the end to sustain the funding levels needed.

Hopefully this can see the long term issues at the club (ie the ground) begin to be resolved too.

Good news this. Hull FC have been under-invested in for years now, with enough money to pump-prime things they are one of the few organisations with the fanbase to be long-term profitable and we need as many of those as we can get as a sport.

I don't see this as a zero-sum game where a weaker FC is good for Rovers, far from it: Nothing is better for Rovers than having both Hull teams competing for honours, it creates a virtuous circle for both clubs.

The Hull Derby Grand Final here we come! I'd even put a bet on a 10-5 scoreline 🤣🤣🤣

We're at 11,500 next season, and the next phase will be to replace the "main" West stand. That presently holds 2,000 not running the full width, so you'd imagine a 4,000 seat stand in it's place taking us to 13,500.

Anything beyond that, we'd need to build on the southern end, and I quite like the options that Craven Streat etc brings.
