  1. Speak for yourself. We don't all hate the BBC. I for one like them for showing this game. I thought the coverage was excellent.

  3. And it benefits both clubs The city was buzzing today! Without being a bean counter, that gate is worth over £130k each today. The city of Hull needs 2 strong teams, and so does Rugby League.

  5. I’m glad I’m not the only one reading the comments on there. I’m especially astonished at so many people saying they found the code much later in their junk mail, or they don’t get paid for another week (I sympathise here but you know, have a small emergency fund). Just when did we become a nation of people who can’t think for themselves?! Trying not to be that smarmy guy here, I totally get everyone’s situations are different and I know paying out good money for tickets can be difficult….BUT if you wanted tickets, especially for Headingley, you had to put a little bit of research in and pre plan. Sign up for the pre sale, make sure your card details are up to date, have in mind where you wanted to sit, set aside 10 minutes to purchase. Again not being I’m alright jack but I knew I needed to take the wife somewhere at midday when they went on sale so I took her 5 mins early, found a cafe, and was one of the first to purchase when they went on sale. I knew which stand I wanted to sit in, even down to the exact seats (no seats behind us = no kids kicking our chairs. Our seats right at the side of the stand = not having to move for anyone to get past!). Maybe I’m too boring being so organised.

  6. An estimated 5000 at the French Cup Final today. Looks like the Albi fans, once again were out in force.

  7. And yet some still believe that they add nothing to the game and are just a drain on resources.

  8. Some video from the Catalans website of the start of works/demolitions. They seem to be really cracking on now and be interesting to see what the new capacity will be there. Amazing generosity to pay for Salford's costs last night, deserves more credit.

  9. Looking at those attendances - many thanks, Goose - drives home that London is the best place in the world to put on a major league international event. We southern based folk never let the game down.

  10. So England's current top 10 attendances are as follows: (2025 Ashes v Oz, Wembley - 75,000)* 1. 2013 World Cup semi v NZ, Wembley - 67,545 2. 1995 World Cup final v Oz, Wembley - 66,540 (2025 Ashes v Oz, Everton Stadum - 52,000)* 3. 2015 Baskerville Shield v NZ, Olympic Stadium - 44,393 4. 2021 World Cup group stage v Samoa, St. James' Park - 43,199 5. 2011 Four Nations group stage v Oz, Wembley - 42,344 6. 1995 World Cup group stage v Oz, Wembley - 41,271 7. 2021 World Cup semi v Samoa, Emirates Stadium - 40,489 8. 2016 Four Nations group stage v Oz, Olympic Stadium - 35,569 9. 2011 Four Nations final v Oz, Elland Road - 34,174 10. 2000 World Cup final v Oz, Twickenham - 33,758 *I've slotted in estimates for the games in the upcoming series, so the bottom two will disappear.

  11. Yeah, rugby league is definitely a minority sport in Melbourne, but the Storm supporter base is a strong, fanatical minority. They've got 35k members, average crowds over 20,000, they're (finally) building a solid junior league pathway and they get 1-2 articles on them in the paper most days. These numbers are absolutely swamped by AFL numbers in the city - and a lot of AFL supports are very parochial about their sport too, and weirdly proud to be dismissive of the Storm - but the Storm still gets better crowds than most Sydney NRL clubs and still has a presence in this city that the Melbourne rugby union franchise could only dream of.

  13. I don't see why you thought Pryce was awful. Bearing in mind he's only trained with them a couple of times I thought he showed some good signs. His break on half time could have been a turning point if we executed better on the back of it (I thought the ref was really quite lenient on what could have been deemed a professional foul there btw), he played a key role in the Hardaker try, and showed a few good touches aside from that. He got caught out defensively a couple of times but I thought his tackling was ok, it was more of a positional issue, and that should improve as ge gets to grips with the systems. Considering he only got off the plane on Wednesday I thought it was decent debut and there's plenty to work with.

  16. I would expect the RFL to be involved this season and the Chair to have oversight of that involvement. Not quite sure why the RFL governance around Salford gets to a free pass now. It was apparently poor before and unchanged now.

  18. It seems worth a try. Not good for me personally but I can’t fault the way they’re trying. I can’t remember the last time the club were trying to be creative and successful on attempting to build. Credit to them.

  19. Thoroughly enjoyed the game at the stadium, will watch it on SL+ replay to see what sll thd fuss is about on here. PS Omega, totally agree that any official who comes from one of the competing teams towns should be nowhere near a game involving them, now not for one minute do I believe that ref would be biased but last year on this dates podcast Robert Hicks said that during a game a ref has to make many decisions and he will do so on experience, intuition, and a lot of the time subconsciously, now if that ref was born and resided in the town of one of the teams, most probably supported them as kid, come through the towns referees society, then which way do you think his subconscious will lean? Growing up with this sport having a connection with one of the teams was not allowed, and I still think that should be the case today.

  20. It certainly is. As much as it pains me to say it, you've built a very very good team over the past few years and I'd be shocked if you don't break your trophy drought this year. Wigan are probably still the team to beat in the big games, but you are big favourites now for the cup and the LLS. If we can continue to move in the right direction (and I'm sure we will) then it's going to be a great time to be a rugby league fan in Hull. ATEOTD, after the travesty that was last season, just to be going into these games feeling we have a chance feels great. A lot of people had us in the bottom 2, and even the most optimistic Hull fans would have been happy with a 7th or 8th place finish. We are well ahead of schedule already and recruiting very well for 2026 and beyond.

  21. Normally I think Pryce would have started on the bench but Hull have been playing without a six all season and Cade Cust, who's been doing a brilliant job standing in, was ruled out after his failed HIA last week. In the circumstances, Pryce was always going to start. Did enough for me to show that him and Sezer are going to be a pretty exciting combination once he settles in.

  27. From a purely selfish perspective, I hope the RFL are holding back some Everton tickets for general sale. I didn't sign up for pre sale thinking this is Rugby League and there is no need. Maybe I have been burned but wonderful news for the game if so because it will encourage more to buy early in future (me included!) If it does sell out, looks like I'll head to the Wembley test instead, which is hardly a bad back up option!

  28. I cannot wait for this. Who will take the spoils ? East or West. This is what rugby is about.. Hull trying to keep Lewis quiet KR trying to stifle the plays of Asiata. To me this is what the challenge cup is about. Hope the ref keeps in the shadows and let the play flow. Hot sunny dry day so no excuses. Even as a Leigh fan I'm as excited to the hilt. Good luck to both teams . The only brief is ....DO NOT LOSE.

  29. Seeing English Super League games included in the line-up of League games every weekend has certainly encouraged me to follow it a bit more closely and even watch a couple of games. Not unusual for me to check Super League results these days and I definitely check the table every week. I doubt any of that would have happened had I not had that exposure through Kayo.

  30. Wow I do understand you have a right to your feelings but how you can say the club is not showing goodwill? we all will have to except change and the survey speaks for itself, the club has to make changes to progress, surely we all want that, so yeh things have to be changed or tried out, I don’t see anything the club is doing that doesn’t consider the spectators, they can’t please everyone

  37. If you listen to bills video i think there only going to have two or three games not every week, regarding season ticket holders wanting money back for those games you miss in my opinion is wrong, it gives an opportunity to help the club after all if we go down this road then the club may stop any ticket offers like this weekend’s game. we should be backing them up with all their doing, after all it’s are club .

  38. Newcastle were 3rd in League 1 in 2019. 1st and 2nd were promoted that season. After Toronto went pop and Leigh took their place, it was basically a choice between them or Barrow (the 2nd relegated team). Hardly controversial or artificial promotion.

  40. Absolutely nothing to be downhearted about. We know where we are as a club and we know we're further along the long road back than we could ever have dreamed of before the start of the season.

  42. Disappointed with the outcome but not completely downhearted by that. We were not clinical enough early on when we had good ball. A couple of times we turned it over with an unforced errors and let all the pressure off. When we shifted it wide we looked dangerous, but a lot of that stuff came too late to really matter. Pryce, considering his limited preparation, looked good to me. He had a few nice involvements and showed promise imo. In time I'm sure he will go well. I thought Davy Litten again looked useful at centre and hopefully he gets an extended run there. Asiata was great, so was Knight, Ese'Ese was obviously targeted but still managed to make an impact. Individually I thought there were plenty of pretty good performances. A bit like the Wigan home game we just came against a team who were a bit too good for us. For 25 minutes or so I didn't think there much between the sides. The Burgess try from a lucky bounce seemed to take the wind out of our sails and Rovers had a white hot period after that where they took the game away from us. We did very well to take back momentum after that and win the second half. Scant consolation I guess, but more evidence that the attitude and mental toughness of this side is a world away from what we've seen in recent years. Second row is a big problem, but I kind of feel like we might have stumbled on a bit of a solution. Apparently Lane has broken his arm, which is a real shame for him, but I thought Ashworth was effective running wider. I also like the idea of Hardaker at second row, particularly when Barron comes back and Briscoe can go back into the centre. Chamberlain offers nothing unfortunately. A bit of a reality check, but we aren't a million miles away. I'm looking forward to the rematch.

  43. After the Burgess try there was only going to be one winner. Litten was a deserved MOM. Peters won’t be happy with letting Hull scoring those quick tries and the soft Hardaker try at the end but at the ends of the day in the Cup a win is a win.

  44. The problem is that these ideas aren't very good. This thread started with the meeting being called for an advance as they went public with financial issues. This was on the 20th November, your deadline is already passed. Had they gone down to £1.2m we would still be in this mess now, it doesn't really appear to be that saving £70k a month would have averted this. It really does appear to be the only solution here is a new owner with funds. People like to deal in simple terms on this, when it's anything but.

  45. Very disappointed in this decision, particularly at such short notice. That's two of us, both season ticket holders, who will be unable to attend the game now, as when the fixtures come out, we plan our holidays around the home games and as a result of the change we shall not now be back from holiday in time, for the game on Friday. We have had season tickets for decades and supported the club in more ways than you can imagine, but we shall not be renewing after the season ends and will then pay, per match. Though we appreciate the reasons for the 'trial' of Friday night games, fans need to be considered as such, rather than just 'bums on seats'. We shall not be asking for a refund for the game, but can understand those who wish to do so. However, goodwill does work, both ways.
