If every episode had been paced like that and allowed the characters to speak a bit then I think we'd be talking about a pretty decent series regardless of the now mountainous suspension of disbelief required.

All we need now is Captain Lorca's tribble to be a convicted Nausicaan war criminal in hiding that jumps out at the last minute to redeem itself in sacrifice in the name of peace and harmony while taking out Tilly, who actually is a cyborg Austrian terminator with a goal of stopping James T Kirk's wig from being created in the future.

All to be completed before the opening credits.

I will be asking for a discount on my licence fee then, again. Add it to my EastEnders discount.

Anybody who has lived/is living in London, knows full well there is a high Indian/Pakistani/Bangladeshi population in East London, none of which is represented in EastEnders, there is also a lot more than the 'token' Afro-Caribbean family living there as well.

Although I may be wrong, with regards to the programme, as the only episode I watched was back in 1998, when I couldn't find the remote control.

On the other hand, the BBC have wielded the axe on Len Goodman's Partners in Rhyme, so that's a positive. In the words of the Grauniad's TV reviewer, it was a "fermented kaleidoscope of dung".

I heard one of the best review lines ever on the radio yesterday: "this is one of the ten films to die before you see". :P

Back in Time for Tea on BBC2 switches from the Robshaws (Back in Time for Dinner) living through the changes in middle-class life, to the Ellis family, experiencing working-class life in Bradford. And, you'll note, it is now "tea" instead of "dinner".

Unsurprisingly, Giles Coren is not on board for this development.

The best bit so far was when they went into the back yard and saw a mangle. One parent says "Do you know what that is?"

One of their kids replies "A pasta maker?"

Just catching up with this today. One observation, in Bradford wouldn't they be weaving wool (or possibly even alpaca in Saltaire) and not cotton?

I think, just as the previous series dealt with the middle classes in general, and not just in North London, this is also a broad view.

It probably also has been shaped by which historic facilities (like factories, mills etc.) were available for filming with the various family members.

Whatever, it is good TV. But what a shame that the marvellous Debbie (from the previous series) isn't in it.

Watching Newsroom again.

Tempted to then re-visit The West Wing. Again.

Also, watching The IT crowd for the 1st time - decent, but not as funny as everyone said. Wife loves it.

Season 2, Episode 1 of 'The IT Crowd' is a classic. Roy, Moss and Jen are invited to the theatre to see a camp musical 'Gay', needless to say the night doesn't go as planned.

Watched the last episode of Star Trek Discovery, it continued the strangeness and deus ex machina moments of sudden fixes to irresolvable issues.  It just felt rushed, much like the very last episode of Star Trek Enterprise where they bodged it to get it finished.  Will I watch season 2?  Definitely, but it's still not gripped me entirely yet.

I just can't get how they'll synch that ending and all of the first season with the show's claim that it all fits in the "original" universe.  Surely if they meet the Enterprise 10 years before the original season then we might have heard a bit more of it in those programmes rather than vague references to funny dusky-looking Klingons, especially a war that was almost lost.

Stick with it post-programme though as they have a better theme tune to end it

it's a remake of the original Star Trek theme

Generation Gifted on BBC2 has been a must watch so far.  Only half way in, but boy its hitting home.  These kids need so much help and real advice.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Len Goodman is only famous because he is a White East End Londoner, who is still breathing.

Traumas must have been the worst drama ever given air time in the history of tv , a completely ludicrous story line that somehow was given the go ahead , must try harder !

Totally agree. With John Simm and Adrian Lester in it I though it would be good. How wrong could I be! :negative:

One line in a review I read said "the worst drama I've ever been gripped by" - which I agreed with. John Simm was brilliant but it was a very shonky plot.

Black Mirror season 4. Let's see.

I found 3 very American influenced.

Was really disappointed with Season 3, although I haven't watched every one yet (because of being a bit bored with them!).

I find some of them excellent, and some of them really quite boring and they go on, when the point could probably have been made in a 10 minute short.

I'll give the last couple of episodes a go and work through season 4, but considering how much I loved the previous series' it has been a big let down imho.
