Never heard of five of the folk on the list.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Well your sporting knowledge isnt very good then is it.

Although I must admit I don't know anything about Bianca Walkden, and whilst I know who Elise Christie is I wasnt aware of her achieving anything this year.

Chris Froome should win it by a mile, but he won't. I imagine it will be Joshua.

What Jonathan Rae has done in recent years is incredible, but world superbikes just isnt that popular anymore.

As long as it isnt Hamilton I dont mind.

I don't watch it but plenty do?

I hope  Big Sam storms the final on Saturday and SPOTY will have missed a trick.

People watch all kinds of c rap but it has little bearing on rugby league.

What trick will the BBC and SPOTY have missed by totally ignoring RL again in 2017?

It's pathetic.

I used to watch it but haven’t for years .   AJ will win  easy I’d say , although I’ve only heard of half of them . No doubt the rest  feature in BBC covered Sports by total coincidence

Yeah, if only RL had some coverage on the BBC

England RU for beating the whole of Samoa last weekend and being general pillars of the community. Apart from when it comes to fee sharing with the whole of the Samoan team.

Some people are just too obsessed with union seeing that it gets mentioned here all the time. Mind boggling to say the least

I also haven't watched it for years or to be precise since Zara Tindall won it.  I ask you why she was even on the list?  Is the BBC the only channel to televise posh horse stuff? I'm a royalist by the way.  I'll never be happy when my two fave sports are RL and Speedway.

This is unsurprising.

There was a piece by the normally reliable Marina Hyde in the Socialist Worker the other day when she lamented that the England cricket team are virtually entirely unknown except by people who follow cricket as they are hidden away on Sky.

It got me thinking that even for sports that are covered by the BBC or which get lots of coverage anyway just how out of the mainstream most sportspeople are now.

I honestly think most people, even those who follow the game, couldn't name you the England soccer starting eleven or recognise most of them without prompts.

Sport's just not as central to the culture as it used to be.  One of the many reasons why SPOTY makes very little sense.

Would not be too surprised to see the gold winning 4 x 100m relay team taking the team title. If the voting was done purely on sporting achievement it should be Chris Froome by a mile, but as other factors are at play when votes are cast, it will easily be Joshua. I would like to see Michael van Gerwen become the overseas personality.

Because a black man will win it?
