Just seen that too, disappointing.

But understandable, they aren't chasing an EFL team , so for non League it'll be fine and cheaper overall , and gives them that 50 hours usage a week

No, just laid a brand new playing surface it’s not 3/4g.  It’s grass with some plastic holding it together which allows for more use.

Just going off the quote in the article , he said 4G , that's a plastic pitch , if it's grass with the stitching machines it's a hybrid

So i would guess a Non league team without their home ground at the moment, but how much could a non league team afford to pay for match day hire and what would be the situation with with beverage and food sales?

It would be a tragedy if Trinity went with a plastic pitch after previously saying they were going with hybrid. Let's hope it's an error in reporting.

It's Hybrid.

Interesting quote from Carter in this, and for all those expecting the ground redevelopment to make/save the club money.

"So we’ve got to get the pitch hired out and everything else working. We’ve got to try and get at least £500,000 of new income coming in."

No its not a 4g pitch its a Hybrid lazy reporting again.

Will Wakefield AFC be moving in?

They (AFC) say not. Or they were saying that earlier in 2022 anyway.

Their plan seems to be either they build their own facility (which they have no money for) or they carry on playing at Fev.

In terms of options, within Wakefield it is extremely limited. AFC are way down the pyramid. Ossett United would surely not move from their existing ground to rent. The Ponte teams? Who knows.

Best opportunity may be a reserve/Ladies team gig for LUFC, Barnsley or another Yorkshire side like Huddersfield town. York's ground seems to have LUFC reserves happy enough though (and arguably its a better facility) and the Women are still in Tadcaster with a view to a better ground in future. What the difference between Barnsley reserves and AFC Wakefield in terms of revenue is questionable too. Who knows who else is being considered?

That's a re-hash of an old interview and off-the-cuff comments from the last fan's forum..

So where is everyone going to go when they play a friendly against Halifax in 10 days time? Is the North Stand going to be ready by then?

The only terrace open will be the West, with the South hospitality (Benidorm flats), open for members.

The East and North are building sites.

Thanks for that, that was more or less what I thought given the recent pictures. So the total ground capacity would be, what, 2000 at best?

Would the crowds the soccer tenants get even be enough to pay the rent for match days?

Something would have to worked out as regards food and beverages.

2500 or so I would expect. North stand opening pushes that to 6k, new stand pushes that to 8600.

Wikipedia doesn't give a breakdown, but does say that the total capacity is 9333 with 5333 in the East seating. So that only gives 4000 for the rest of the ground put together, of which the North terrace is also closed...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belle_Vue_(Wakefield)

I did go at the end of last season when the East had been demolished and it was pretty cosy then even with the North still available.

Desso grassmaster style.

Fair play to Trinity for investing in that - it is enormously superior to grass-only and is not cheap.

Loads of big football clubs don't even have them, so well done to Wakefield on this. 👍🏽

It comfortably housed the hordes of Hull KR last season so that suggests a capacity of at least 6k.

Yes it is but one poster GUBRATS can't seem to get that through his head.

The pitch offers approx 25 hours a week in winter, 35 hours a week in summer. The winter hours are more than adequate to accept a football team playing its first team fixtures on and allowing Trinity to train on the pitch for up to 4.5 hours a day (which includes Academy) (Reserves tend to train with one or the other) leaving 2 hours free for the football. Obviously the football team will train elsewhere, but there are plenty of venues for that. The summer figures will allow up to 10 hours a week in summer for rental. As we will be offering first class changing rooms and floodlights, this should make it an attractive venue for one off matches in many sports.

To answer Less Tonks, when Carter says we need to make 500k in extra revenue, the pitch is only a part of that. He's also on about a much larger match day take thanks to better facilities both corporate and public. Use as an entertainment venue (function room/restaurant/bar) all year round, and a venue for local businesses to use, which is what the function room and meeting room has been dual purposed to do. It's a combination of things, not just the one. The idea is to create a 7 day a week venue, that operates successfully both in and outside of RL.

It won't happen overnight, however as we owe nothing in terms of loans on this redevelopment, then at least it starts in the black.

The two football clubs I mentioned who could come in with their first teams, Wakefield AFC and Ossett United, play at level 10 and level 8 of the Football pyramid respectively. The latter draw decent enough crowds for that level so I am informed, but I can't see them wanting to abandon their own home. The former would be an obvious choice, and there are existing links between the clubs, but whether they could ever draw the kind of income Carter is on about is unlikely.

The reserves/academies/ladies teams of the others, quite possibly would be good in terms of numbers.

The concession takings would be negotiated as part of the leasing deal just as they are at any ground I suppose.
