Retired players: what are they up to now?

Recommended Posts

I wonder if a former Hull player joining the prison service is like nominative determinism?

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Many of them seem to go into the service type such as police, fire etc.

Logan Tomkins is a firefighter he was a pest control business owner when playing.

Cory Patterson owns a coffee shop

Karl Fitzpatrick is single handed winding up Warrington fans

Joel Tomkins was also in the Fire Service after retiring but left a month ago for a full time job back with Wigan.

Is pest control just a euphemism for thug?

I think I am right in saying that Benjamin Jullien gave up f/t RL to play p/t for Pia in Elite 1 while working for the French fire service (Les Sapeurs Pompiers)

If it involves being in charge of defendants when they are in court on trial, I suppose it could be accusative determinism!

I wonder if she has ever had cases up before Richard Thompson the District Judge for criminal matters in Preston who hails from Hull and ran the line in last year's  2023 Grand Final...........

I was talking to a woman at the bus stop today who knows Kirk Yeaman and was telling me that he now works in the Prison Service, which I was not aware of.

It got me wondering what jobs other retired players have taken up?

It's vitally important that players learn a profession while still playing as there is life after playing the game, and very few will end up as full time coaches.

I would like to see more taking up teaching to spread the word about our game through the schools.

Well, I don't want to show off but since I finished playing, I have the 21st most posts on a well known Rugby League forum.

As well as holding down a part time job for which I am paid full time, and clinging onto a marriage.
