I didn’t show there was a minimum (as Trailfinders def didn’t hold 12k) so fair enough then, and agreed it would. Do you think it would boost attendances then?

Yes but based on low turnout? I’ve been to a few RL games there when it’s a packed house and it’s a fantastic place to watch RL, one of which I think is the record attendance of any sport played there (RLWC vs Ireland)

Huddersfield had a bit of a mini boom around a decade ago, but even then their stadium wasn't half full. Atmosphere does suffer as a result and the matchday experience likewise.

The IMG criteria even recognise whilst that having a good quality venue is important, having an appropriately sized one is also worth consideration too.

The minimum requirement is actually 5000. That's the height of the bar set in the new IMG era......

To be fair, that was the bar as set during the '8s' period when the RFL decided to both reduce standards and lower the requirement to enforce standards.

I thought one of the ideas behind IMG was supposed to be to drive up standards? It's also, again, worth pointing out that some of the headline stadium minimum standards aren't actually the minimum required, so for example higher standards are applied to Wakefield's ground than say Cas'.

Yes, a lot of people i know of have stopped coming because of the experience of being in that stadium on game days.

Indeed, unfortunately we won't ever get crowds anywhere near the level to make it fantastic, even with 10,000 in in the past it's still been pretty awful sight wise, there is also nothing apart from the bit out front where we can utilise to make the game day experience any better.

No, the fields are council owned and the old paviliion and the land it sits on is privately owned and is currently being built on.

I like the John Smiths stadium (is it still called that?) but it's just not suited to the Giants and is a millstone around their necks. I hope KD can get this built, I give Huddersfield some stick sometimes but I think if they can get a 12,000 purpose built stadium that they can utilise properly it will help push them forward, they do need to push on on the field to help this though.

Personally I have always found the Huddersfield fans really nice people, there just are not enough of them! 

I think a 12,000 capacity stadium with both seating and standing areas would be good for them. A smaller stadium would certainly help create more of an atmosphere. 

Planning needs to be considered carefully. The current stadium only really has one way in and out, and traffic to and from the stadium on a matchday is a bit of a nightmare. 

Maybe consider somewhere a bit closer to the motorway too, though not so far out of town that the home fans who walk or use public transport for games can't get there.

And call it Fartown!

The £2m a year he already writes off on the Giants is hardly "pocket change".

If ever there are tangible stadium plans, it won't being funded out of his own pocket.
