Fortunately, Garry is still with us and I trust he's reading all the good things people are writing about him.  H s a big lad, so I'm sure he won't have any problem with the comments about his  outspoken views on the game.

One of the best and time for a YouTube retrospective.

It's always sad to hear about ex-players struggling with serious illness/injury.

I've enjoyed watching Garry on the various RL shows/podcasts over the last five or more years. I don't always agree with him, but it's good to hear different viewpoints.

As a player he will always be a legend for me, because he played in the GB teams that I grew up watching. Even now I still find it easier to name the team from 1990 than I do the current players.

I have watched in particular the 1990 Ashes series more times than I care to remember, so Garry's brilliance will always be something that I will remember - chip kick and out to Eastwood to score at Wembley, for example. Magical!

Thanks and good luck, Garry.

Where's the "I don't recall saying 'Good luck'" option?

Callum Walker denying it was him. I wonder if it was Martyn...?

We should run a poll.

I can't believe what I'm seeing. If this isn't taken down I just will stop coming here and cancel my subs.

That is a bloody dark turn after such a nice, if sad, farewell.

John D will be on in a bit to say "I don't know why we bother."

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

I saw that on social media a few times and presumed it was just the typical, faceless online troll who gets a kick out of bad taste posts like this. I couldn't believe it when I found out it was TotalRL and his employer!

And as of 7.20pm it is still there on the TRL homepage, and nobody in the office has yet owned up to posting it and apologised.

I'd love it if the survey was setup by Garry himself. One final bit of controversy before he hangs up his boots 😆

And you get the situation at Sheffield whe certain people are trying to defend the actions of Mark Aston because he is a good bloke and no harm was done to Marsh,

We will not know if Marsh has been harmed, obviously hopefully he hasn't , for many years but if he will have a strong case against Aston and his suport for him now will look stupid

Just watched the latest LE podcast and at the end, Martyn mentions Garry and if I heard him correctly, he say, "Garry....brain damage, which you'd have to conclude occured during his playing career."

IF that is the case, then it makes the Sheffield Eagles affair much more than an administrative oversight.

That's 1 hour , 1 min into the podcast.

His performance in Melbourne in the 1992 Ashes was brilliant too . As captain his outstanding game at 6 ranked as one of the best I have ever seen by a GB player over here.

Only time I saw him in England was when I went over in 1985 to watch the Wigan v Hull  CC final, Not selected in the starting lineup and came on as a sub - think he played dummy half.

What a match that was!!

The kiwis must have hated him. He was always great against them too.

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

@Martyn Sadler @League Express  can you get a grip of this poll and get rid please? Given the circumstances it’s pretty distasteful

One of the great things about Garry is that he isn't thin-skinned and precious.

He has no problems at all with the poll.

In fact he's delighted that almost 50% of the votes in the poll say he's irreplaceable, which in my opinion he is.

So thanks for your concern, but it's not necessary.

I suggest you cast your vote and don't feel any obligation to vote in any particular way.

And of course, let's not forget, he's still with us. 👍
