Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

My car insurance company has just emailed me to remind me of the claims line number!  I think they are expecting to be busy!

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Tip of the hat to the postie in Skidby who was doing his round in shorts this morning in the face of a nithering easterly.

Weather improving here.

Had some snow overnight here in St Helens and its still around where the sun isn't hitting.  Tis cold.  But there was much worse in 2009 & 2010 when we had a foot of the glorious stuff here.  Not sure what the fuss is about but perhaps worse is to come.

A view of peak snowpocalypse outside of our house.  The snow has already disappeared from the trees because we had strong sun and the melt is starting, when it gets dark it'll turn to ice though.

There have been a number of accidents around this way, mainly idiots driving like it's a dry summer day.  Come on people... just recognise that it's cold, icy and snowy and that if you can't drive in it then don't.

First snow in the Channel Islands for 5 years this morning. Very pleasant but imagine it won't last long.

Channel Islands and snow just don't fit together in my head.  I always think of warm sunshine and beaches when I think of the Channel Islands.  But the snow in your picture just enhances how pretty the scene is.

In the last hour, we’ve gone from no weather warning here to an amber warning for overnight snow. Lovely. No, really, lovely.

Set off for work at 8:15 this morning went 2 miles into steadily worsening conditions, turned round, came home.

We've just come through a proper white-out, no visibility beyond 20m.  It's settled into merely heavy snow now rather than blanket coverage.  Some brave souls are still out in it.

If an icily beautiful woman turns up in a sleigh and offers you Turkish Delight watch out, you may be better off waiting for the Lion to arrive.

I'm a bit too settled to accept such things from beautiful women (who aren't the wife), mainly because they don't offer in the first place and secondly because I'm extraordinarily fussy about Turkish Delight, it has to be the proper stuff and also have no nuts in it.

Anyway, I'd tell her I'd have narnia cheap efforts to corrupt me.

Finally, our cats may have an issue with a lion in the garden.  The diva strops would last for the rest of the year.

Spare a thought for us Sydneysiders who just suffered through Sydney's hottest night on record - although records only go back to 1858 so there may have been worse.

Last night, the temperature in the city got to its lowest point at a sweaty 26.4 degrees Celsius at about 11:00pm, the Bureau of Meteorology [BOM] said.

Then it just got hotter, climbing to 31C by 1:00am.

At midnight, it was still around 36C in Penrith, and it took until 4:00am for the gauge to get below 30C.

They also recorded their highest minimum temperature of 28.6C in Penrith

Only light snow then?

I’m currently on the north east coast, the snow is about 7-8 inches deep in places and the roads are treacherous.

My wife said it was a good 8-10 inch deep outside our back door.  I got a smack on the head for sniggering.  Didn't help that I'd just seen this:
