Old Frightful
They say you have to be brave to go out on a rugby field, this is one of the bravest performances on a rugby field I have ever seen. Brave, superb, well done. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/34084792 Apologies mate, only just realised you'd included a link to a video of her singing. I hadn't spotted that earlier, which is why I put the youtube link in and my reference to "this one's a bit longer" is because I put a shorter version in first, it wasn't a reference to your link. Hope that's cleared it up a bit. Hull FC....The Sons of God.... (Well, we are about to be crucified on Good Friday)
Scubby
Just a shame it got such little recognition outside RL and the Beeb. Sure if it had been certain other sports the media coverage would have been immense. Well done to her and agree she should be back in the future instead of some boyband or 'sleb' with no interest in out sport. To be fair, I have seen her on GMTV and This Morning in the build up to the game so it has reached wider circles. Two million plus views on the BBC is not to be sniffed at. I would imagine it will filter down to feature writers during the week too.

Lounge Room Lizard
Struggled to watch her to be honest sing it as very emotional. But an article here again just shows what a great person she is and the game needs her as much as she needs us. Very inspirational person. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/general/rugby-league/challenge-cup-final-lizzie-jones-explains-why-she-will-perform-prematch-hymn-to-raise-awareness-of-condition-that-killed-her-husband-10477629.html

JohnM
A truly magic moment that did receive lots of media coverage in my view. How can it be topped? Maybe it can't and Lizzie herself may not want to. Maybe just remember it as moment to be treasured, a moment to be recalled and revisited. Number 16
Arsenal's former striker Alan Smith has a column in the Telegraph's Monday Football section and in today's he wrote... "Allow me this weekend to veer away from football because nothing can compare with what happened before Saturday's rugby league Challenge Cup final. In honour of her husband Danny who died in May after suffering a cardiac arrest playing for Keighley, Lizzie Jones strode out at Wembley to sing Abide With Me. For me, it was one of the bravest and most emotional scenes that I and quite conceivably anyone else has ever witnessed in a sports stadium in their lifetime." Respect for that man. Gerri Monside
Just had a quick glance on Gooogle & Lizzie is getting coverage all over the place including Sweden & Norway (courtesy of AftonBladet), Romania, Asia, Scotland and loads of the local papers across the UK. Twitter feed says that she's going to record Abide with Me as a charity single available on iTunes. Never seen anything so brave. How she got through it I'll never know. It's an easy kick for the lad but, as we say in Rugby League, there's no easy kicks. @IanLancaster65

PCarter
Can only echo what has already been said. I tried everything I could to hold back the tears, but failed miserably. Never seen anything like that and probably never will. Those children will be blessed to have a Mum that has such strength guiding them through life. She almost ruined a truly touching moment by going over on her heels as she walked off though
Dave T
Only got round to watching this yesterday morning, and I must admit it was a beautiful moment, makes you proud of the sport and RL Family. She looked amazing, held it together brilliantly, and sounded perfect, she did her late husband proud. The crowd was unbelievable too, the round of applause after the first section was very moving and you could sense she had everyone gripped even just watching on TV. Very moving, very nice touch from the RFL, well done Lizzie, the RFL, and the crowd.

Phil
My band played at Dan Fest at Ovenden RLFC yesterday, she came up to us to say thanks and we were instantly blubbing like babies, she was just as lovely and as warm as she looked on the screen, and her kids, what cuties. You can't see that on the BBC clip. I'm glad you have cleared that up. Watching on tv it seemed at that point that the crowd were distracted by something else and I felt she was not being respected, which did upset me at the time, but Danny's picture coming up explains everything. Old Frightful
Does any one else think that this incredibly brave lass deserves to be rewarded by one of those unsung sporting hero awards, or something similar? Whilst I obviously understand your sentiment and plenty will probably agree with you, I think we need to give her both time and space before she has any more of the public eye gazing on her and her young family. Saturday was a huge stage and setting and she coped fantastically well but I imagine she must have been inundated with requests for interviews and has become almost a household name recently. She would certainly have wanted the opportunity to push her desire to have players screened in Danny's memory and make sure something good comes from his passing and she's been given this and has conducted herself superbly. I'm just thinking it would be nice for her and her family to have a little breather after what must have been an absolutely awful few months and I'm sure more recognition of her efforts will surely arrive in the not too distant future. I'm sure Lizzie has people around her to help keep her emotionally suported and as a clearly loving Mum, she will focus as much as is needed on them. Her life revolves around them.
