If there are seven clubs able to apply plus Widnes and Super League has 11 Clubs then it does make the case for 2 Leagues of 10 professional clubs from 2022 onwards provided that the game can find one more expansion club to make up the numbers.

interesting but it would of course mean the funding for clubs would be at a lower rate than at present  and the thought of most if not all super league clubs voting for that is hard to imagine .

Anyone notice how quick Toulouse managed to create edit and produce their video application after TWP were rejected 🙂

Yes good club, realised what the TWP outcome would be and got themselves ready. That, in any other sport would make them clear favourites. In RL it probably means they're last in't queue!

Only 2 teams in this who can live with 1 Million on the table are London Broncos and Toulouse its a straight toss up between the 2.

Broncos will be made up with money from David Hughes and Toulouse from the Maire/Region/Sponsors

Sorry to upset anyone on here however the others are simply not in it.

Absolutely, the only sensible choice would however be Toulouse. Featherstone, the team with the 2nd highest number of votes rely heavily on Leeds Rhinos players on dual registration, this isn’t possible in Super League and is just one of the reasons to rule them out.

Don't think Rovers are having Leeds players on D/R  now.

I really don't see why it should take so long. Saves on the funding I suppose.

Utter rubbish! We have been trying a team in London for 40 years and despite having years of SL funding they play in a poor stadium with little support and the reality is Toulouse is a Rugby Union city and RL will always live in its shadow

Hughes didn't even spend near the salary cap the last time and that was with the full £1.8 million funding.

I enjoyed reading your interesting post. I thought it was very well written and prompted some thoughts I had. Can I ask your opinion on a couple of points please?

Do you think France will ever be good enough to compete?  I recently learnt that the best player, Farges, developed in England. If there were 12 others the same standard as him then they would have a great team. However despite Catalans they have fallen behind the Pacific nations.

I think New Zealand were strong in the 1980s and 90s before the Warriors? Certainly equal to Great Britain?

I was going to say I didn't think Great Britain had much chance in the world cup, but I have seen some players in Super League, Ratchford, Grace, Coote, Walmsley, who look as good as their Australian counterparts.

Again interested in your thoughts on this.

Initially France would find it tough. However playing England at least once a year and second French club in Super League would provide the exposure that the French need to get up to speed. Over time and if we stick with it the stock of full time professional players in France would increase. Hopefully dotted around Toulouse, Catalans and other Super League clubs.

in  New Zealand  players crossing the Tasman to play made the Kiwis more competitive in the 1980s and was the catalyst for  the Warriors entry in 1995. This led to further improvement and they were rewarded by being crowned  Tri/4 nations winners in 2005,2010 and 2014. Also World Cup winners in 2008. A second New Zealand NRL side would surely see further improvement.

As far as England's World Cup chances next year, we are not that far off. But in the future, the key is exposure to the best. We need to re-establish  the international Calendar. Eg Australia tour England 2022. NZ tour England 2023, England tour, England tour    Aus/NZ  in 2024. World Cup in 2025. So on and so forth. In cricket, just because England did not win the Ashes for a long time, it was never suggested that they should stop playing Australia.

In short there needs to be a strategy of creating a degree of equality among the four core nations. We pay attention to leveling up the competition in the Super League and NRL with salary caps etc but  forget about the international game,  Have a strategy and stick with it even if there are setbacks along the way.

Which 2nd highest number of votes?

Do you actually mean the contributors to this site, well the track record in recent times not only in RL speak with Toronto but in 3 major political attitudes says that the consensus of opinion of the majority of posters on here is way of the mark!

Rugby League has been trying for 120 years to get things right with money and junior development in this country and still we rely  on has been's and never was players from the NRL to prop up Super League clubs

Anyone for HUYTON then ?

Years of SL funding you mean the TV money which everyone in SL gets if you are in SL you are entitled to it.

Trying to bribe your way into Superleague isn’t anything to celebrate but knowing Elstone it will probably work.

Its funny how all those TWP players who people write off as not being up to it are suddenly good Superleague players.
