Salford City Roosters new million pound clubhouse

Recommended Posts

We ran a coach to Eccles from Wrexham a few years ago to surprise one of the members there, Kenny Roberts, who followed us home and away, and had supported the old Celtic Crusaders in Bridgend. It was a great day out and we were made very welcome.

Congratulations and best of luck to everyone at Eccles. Wonderful news.

The Council are very generous.

An amateur club with only £14,000 of its own, commits £680,000 of other peoples money and then overspends by 50%.

We need investment in rugby league so I'll look away from the history of this, but I'm guessing there are a number of cans of worms wriggling around in Salford Council.

If there aren't some well meaning soul will put them there or make them up so it'll all be much of a muchness.

Good news, Saddleworth rangers built a new club house a few seasons ago and they've never looked back. It raises more revenue for the club with functions etc.

That’s another very good facility. It’s also important for clubhouses these days to have both male and female changing facilities to enable growth of that part of the game

Siddal likewise, the infrastructure means an awful lot

It's nice to read of clubs making progress.

Good to read about Siddal. Clubhouses can be a valuable asset to a club. Increased revenue streams are always a welcome addition to any club.

Even for a rugby league fan this is a quite remarkable response to a good news story.

You think it's good to overspend by 50%?

Its good of course that amateur clubs get grants.  But they should spend wisely and run facilities that they can afford.

Neither you nor I know what's happened there, and yet you saw fit to suggest skullduggery of some sort.

Isn’t the work being carried out at Siddal pitch improvement ?

It's explained, superficially at least, in the article. (The project is bigger now than originally planned.)

The money from the council is from underspend elsewhere.

I meant more the rise in costs. There's a brief mention of the ground conditions and plans developing, but no real detail.

Details details. They just get in the way of faux outrage 😜
