Funny to read Fev fans bemoaning the lack of away fans at POR. Maybe ask yourselves why people don't want to come?

That is actually a fair point , POR can be a bit intimidating

Your right of course but then one could say their are a lot more other attractions/events to spend your money in a bigger City - the competition for where to spend is greater.

As I say your point is well made and its a good banter but their is a wider picture to also consider.

Key for me is the growth. Seems to me Castleford should be applauded. Leeds could do better in general but they have a tremendous corporate/hospitality segment which should be applauded.

The point about new stadiums being able to increase corporate support isn't always valid , smallish plans don't always have the big businesses to fill them , especially with the usual increased prices ,

I've posted before - it's the only ground in RL where I wouldn't take my wife & kids. I know plenty of people who just won't go there. If intimidating and unpleasant is how Featherstone as a club want it to be, then fine, but don't then complain when away fans tend to give it a miss.

It’s decent for the Championship but would be a shocking attendance for a Super League club

out of interest what did Huddersfield and Salford draw in their stints outside SL before becoming established SL clubs, add in TO and London. Leeds crowds are shocking for a one club post code of such a large population

Can Leigh only sing & chant when there is large numbers of away fans in attendance ?

A flat atmosphere at LSV is like a bouncing one at Headingley v Cats

Not really , given the push for promotion we're still down on pre Covid crowds

How much was it too pay at the gate yesterday ?. Perhaps the pay at the gate Leigh fan’s thought they’d win easy and decided to save £20.

Something we now have to factor in with visiting support is the soaring cost of petrol and diesel which has now gone through the £7 a gallon barrier and is forecast to get much higher. With soaring cost of gas and electricity supporters are going to think twice about following their teams over the Pennines or to Cumbria and for some even shorter trips will be difficult.

Back in the 90's Huddersfield were always one of the better supported sides outside the first division/SL, despite our troubles in the 80's we increased our crowds from around 350/400 to over 2,000 by the early 90's.

We were averaging around 2500-3000 in the old 2nd division and averaged around 3500 when we won promotion in 1998 and around 3000 when we last won promotion in 2002.

Not bad considering our attendances rarely got over 4 figures for over a decade, compared with Leigh for example who had experienced relative success and already had a hardcore fan base around 2500-3000 for most of the last 40 years.

5,702 at Huddersfield with just over 700 from Salford, not bad considering those clubs aren't supposed to have any fans.

It's the biggest crowd between the sides at Huddersfield since 2017 and the 2nd biggest crowd at Huddersfield for 10 years.

Helped by stuff like this

Which @GUBRATSwould probably have appreciated last year?

2002 average was around 2,400 if i remember correctly.

So in effect, we doubled our crowds in the space of a decade?

How many other SL clubs can claim this?

Erm none but that doesn't fit the 'Huddersfield have no fans' narrative used when we're doing well/doing poor/beaten your side.

I’m really surprised you know what a atmosphere is with you inhabiting another planet.

Does anyone know what the best taxi firm is for booking after games at AJBell? I need a ride to Eccles.

Did want to start a new thread so just thought I'd stick it in here hoping local fans see it. Cheers.

I think Huddersfield fans came in a taxi last time they played at Salford. Maybe they can help? :kolobok_ph34r:

I wasn't bemoaning anything. Just stating a fact. I don't need to ask myself anything
