On a train heading back to London. Carriage full of people who were at the game. What a fantastic result and day. I’m just sorry there aren’t more games in the south (we will be watching the Wheelchair match at Stratford).

Apparently this site says I "won the day" here on 23rd Jan, 19th Jan, 9th Jan also 13th December, whatever any of that means. Anyway, 4 times in a few weeks? The forum must be going to the dogs - you people need to seriously up your game. Where's Dutoni when you need him?

Don't you have calendars down there , ' Bommy neets ' the 5 th of November

Sussex bonfires run through October to mid November. You can look them up. I was part of the beacon lighting last year.

As a neutral who desired a close contest, I felt sorry for Samoa - who were a rabble and suffered a raft of injuries that really hit them hard down the stretch. I hope those injuries aren't as nasty as they looked.

What a twisting of the knife though by England to pile on those points! Some really entertaining, free-flowing, clinical tries.

I wasn't keen on the bench, but I have to say I thought Tomkins, Welsby and Williams played beautifully off the back of the dominance up front.

Williams MOTM for me. Special mentions to Welsby, Tomkins, Radley, Makinson, Whitehead, Burgess, Watkins and Farnworth. Mentioning 9 players out of the 17 shows what a team performance it was!

The water really came gushing out of the taps in the second half. Poor Samoa tumbled, fell, and were swamped. The picking of Milford over Lino looks particularly off-beam now. Milford offered pretty much nothing and strikes me as a spent force internationally.

What a way to start the World Cup for the host nation. I missed the pre-match fare but joined as the teams came out. I thought it was the sort of performance and score that will engage new viewers. Welsby, Farnworth and Young emerge as young and bright wunderkinds, whose class and verve can inject a jolt of freshness into English RL.

Congrats to England and here's to the next month. I hope it follows on from this.

Realistically what can we expect from a team that hasn't played a single game together? I expressed my concern over the lack of warm up games numerous time, its extremely annoying.

The reality is this entire WC marketing has been 99% marketed at RL fans its preaching to the converted of which a massive % support their clubs not the game.

Marks out of 10 for 10000 + empty seats at Newcastle  ZERO:(

P

I was surrounded by folk from the Northeast today…

… don’t think I was the only one.

2 near miss trys in first 15 for England and only 4 PTB for Samoa in England half, they were outclassed.

Saints should do but a lot depends on the approach of the new coaching team. On field personnel wise they get Lomax and percy back to full fitness, Dodd will be like a new signing and was outstanding before his injury. Only big loss is Grace but he only played a few games last year.

If James Graham gets his wish Grace gets replaced by Dom Young! In all seriousness though I think Saints will be the team to beat again Wigan and possibly Huddersfield in the mix.

Superb England. Thought we looked a tad fatigued towards the back end of the first half. But came out well in the second and were ruthless. Absolutely ruthless.

On a plus note, the wife loved it so I am in the good books!

Get some tonight 🤪

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

Fantastic but still 10000  empty seats with 1 year extra to market it ?

P

The capacity today was 49,000. So your maths is wrong.

RL is also a niche sport. It’s not that popular. Games not involving NZ and Australia have historically been even less popular. So 43k in a non-traditional area against Samoa is a pretty decent crowd. I am disappointed it wasn’t full but most around me loved it. That’s the key for me.
