May just be the way the crowd noise is coming through but the impression based on the (lack of, at times) cheering etc is that a Leigh have a lot of first time/irregular fans in today.

Which is a real positive.

Watkins somehow avoids an ankle tap to score.

Poor quality game this, it’s never really got going

Maybe the players are mesmerised by the Leigh kit and are trying to work out if it’s a leopard or a jaguar?

Some messy play in the build-up, but a good finish.

I don't think any of them are in any doubt at all. #ClipartJaguar

Think Salford may just sneak in again here.

Like Lam I thought Ackers was lucky to get a scrum in the lead up to Salford's first try. He has certainly sparked into life since.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Ackers scores a very Ackers try.

Leigh will feel hard done to there I think.

All of a sudden a couple or three six agains appear out of nowhere and Salford the beneficiaries.

Ref has given a few Leighs way that half for the same infringement.

A kick in the knackers for the Leopards as Andy Ackers crosses to extend the lead for the unholy ones.

There once were some Leopards from Leigh

For whom things were going nicely

Then up stepped Andy Ackers

With a kick to the knackers

Now they're looking glum at the LSV.

Dewsbury seem have a bit more nous. If Leigh challenge for the playoffs, I change my name to Marlene.

After ONE game that isn't even finished?

Are they as big as Scouting for Girls? Serious question, I’m in my 40s and music stopped for me around 2005 but I know a few SFG songs but have never heard of the Lathams.

I’d say right now The Lathums are a bigger draw than SFG, being one of the best modern day indie bands. That style of music isn’t mainstream right now though so they’ll probably never be as commercially successful as SFG were 15 years ago. Different demographics though. The Lathums are much “cooler” whereas SFG are now old enough to be on those “music for mum/dad” albums.

Leigh are certainly much stronger than their previous SL iterations however their Achilles heel is their lack of pace in their side. Leutele is probably the quickest back they have. They’re heavily reliant on Lachlan Lam if they are to stand any chance of staying up this year
