Sorry if i have posted too much tonight.Instead of my bottle of red wine with todays performance i have downed two.Probably not a wise choice but at my age i don't have much to lose.Keep the faith,i believe in our players but it's like a jigsaw not all the pieces are fitting at present.

Hope you enjoyed the afternoon well deserved win and you can say in years to come i was there when York won at POR for the first time in 67 years.

I've seen York win at Fev a few times, cup games maybe

I know they palyed because I was there if I recall correctly it was a last minute decision. My mistake about it being the Cup.

York have played 2 home games (both challenge cup matches) at Fev thanks to the Rovers help:

Vs Swinton in March 2018. Coldest I’ve ever been at a match, the groundsman did wonders getting the pitch clear of snow. Played with an orange ball!

Vs Rochdale in March 2020. This was before lockdown and due to the ‘cancelled availability of Bootham Crescent.’

Yes.

I can't see anything other than him having lost the dressing room. Very quick to shift blame onto the players in his post match interviews. Following the Swinton game he suggested we lost because the players were either unfit or mentally weak. Not something I'd like to hear from a bloke that's responsible for making sure both of those are on point.

I want to see him gone tonight.

This was pretty much where I was too after yesterday's latest embarrassment. Heard him blaming the players again on Radio Leeds on my way home, and however much of a point he's got it's not a good position for any coach to take, and suggests he doesn't have any answers as to how we're going to get out of our current doldrums.

I won't lie, I didn't want him after the London playoff game last season as I saw that as his rehearsal for the job proper, and as we all know he (and we) failed miserably in one of the most shameful performances I've ever seen. However, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, not least given it was possible the 'he's not had enough time to build his own team/get his ideas across' crew could have a point, but it looks very much like he's not up to it.

He blamed the players after the previous match, which clearly didn’t work. For the players we have, the performances are below par. Just has to go, but can’t see MC sacking him.

I’m not the biggest ford fan so don’t think I’m backing him but do you think the club said look ford get us in play offs and see what happens and if that’s not achieved they will look for a new manager next season ?

I might be totally wrong, but, when he was at York he appeared to have ‘his’ players and they would do whatever for him and for a long time that was enough, certainly in League 1 and initially in the Championship, but his style of play became very predictable and, dare I say, boring, 5 drives and kick as far down the field as you can, making the defence start near their own try line. Don’t get me wrong, the fans here for the most part loved him, probably because he had time for us, but towards the end of his tenure he did appear to be losing the dressing room, especially when the new owner started bringing In new players who maybe weren’t as much in the Ford camp. As I say, I may be totally wrong but that is the impression I got. I don’t think for one minute he’d would have gone to Fev on the terms you are suggesting, he isn’t that kind of guy, he would have gone expecting to get results. What I will say is he is a stickler for discipline and any player who wasn’t 100% for the cause was shown the door no matter how good they thought they were and he did instil a good ethos in the team. Maybe there are too many strong personalities at Featherstone, I don’t know. Let’s not forget he was a rising star in coaching circles and was taken into the national set up albeit in a junior capacity and you don’t just stop being a good coach, but you do need the support of those around you, if you haven’t got that you are on a hiding to nothing.

When I was working I had 32 staff. I knew what made every one of them tick. You have to get to know your personnel and encourage them by knowing their personality, their weakness and strong points, Also I got them promoted or upgraded. I had a companionship with all of them and had an open door to talk to them on any subject. We worked as a team and got very good results. You have to be on the same wavelength. At 90 I still do what I can.

Two thing struck me yesterday compared to previous visits to Fev. First and foremost, was how quickly the fans went quiet as the Knights fought their way back into the game. Probably, more importantly, was the players reactions behind the posts after York tries. Their attitude appeared to be one of resignation that a defeat was inevitable, so let's get the game over with. This could well be the effect of having so many loan and D/R players, are they really invested in what happens to Fev?

Really ?  He's not doing that at Fev.  Maybe he does not have as much control at Fev regarding recruitment / selection.  There's a few that I'd show the door right now (I don't like to name players but most of them used to play for Cas at some point (surely coincidental lol))  Maybe some of our old guard didn't have respect for him when he arrived either - for whatever reason.  Either way it's not working.

Another spot on post from a York fan.  Saying it as it is and not just gloating.  I said to my mates when we were leading 18-12 that not only would we lose but the game was gone already.  We've seen this pattern so many times this season.  The ko after HT was a disaster and the momentum never moved back.  We were supposed to have had a clear out of the Dads Army after last year but the energy levels on Sunday were not on the same planet as York's.  Would love to see Briscoe, Hall and Davies back to replace this years dross.  At least they gave a ****.

Do we actually talk to players before we sign them these days or just sign names who are using us as a stepping stone ?

I can't even begin to comment about how badly the DR arrangement has worked this year..

For anyone watching the game back on Rovers TV.We had very little field position for the last 10 min of the first half and almost 25 min in the second. When we had good field position we gave away penalties. Two for incorrectly playing the ball.Once the ref had penalised the first one we should have noted that and played it properly.Don't see many given if the ref was keen he could give 30 or more a game. But he was about to blow up for offside by York but let play go on and Turner scored his second try to level the scores.Been doing my theory test last night regarding games to play and can't see us doing any better than losing 12/13 games i would love to be proved wrong.

I detest dual reg, it is wrong on so many levels, how can it be right to parachute a player in for one game, how can it be right for players of the host team to have to stand aside to accommodate a player from the donor team, where is the incentive for fringe players to get better and force their way into a team knowing that they will probably not get the chance. Rugby League is Tribal, the team, the club, the fans are all part of the tribe that is why we are so passionate about it, you just have to read the postings on this site to see how strongly people feel about our sport. A sport that was born in the working class areas of this country where , at the time, blokes were living, working and dying side by side and in their free time playing this wonderful game. How can someone coming in for  1 or two games even get close to feeling the passion for the team, at least under the loan arrangements we used to have they were with you for at least a month and ideally either half or a full season, I know times change but it is in our blood, our history. As fans of the game we generally appreciate both teams on the field, we go to watch a good game, win, lose or draw, if we win, great, if not, as long as our team has given their best we go away happy....ish. Our fans can usually engage in good natured banter on and off the terraces, that is what sets us apart from Soccer, it is rare for their to be any trouble which is why it is great for families, even though the passion for our team is there it seldom goes beyond the banter. .

I think Fordy lost control of recruitment at York when the new chairman took over, and in my opinion, that was instrumental in him leaving York. I'm not defending Fordy here, just saying how can a coach pick the team, and get the blame when things go wrong, if he can't select his squad in the first place.

Put quite simply york out enthused , out thought and out worked fev on sunday , on paper you have a side that should easily be top 3 but the players have to believe in this, don't think you'll be as lacklustre in france this weekend in what will be a close game.

This post is spot on.

I'm sure Rod L would say so too. Are there many who would disagree? Bet not. So why are we doing it. Great for the doner but proving poor for us for reasons given above. No continuity at all bar Fishwick who is put in our team fairly regularly.

But tbh I detest the 2 week loans even more. What benefit have we had from Hooley and Johnson. Cas must love the fact that we are helping in keeping their fringe players match fit. Don't buy the argument that it allows us to have a closer look for a potential future signing. Surely we can get the inside track on players without having them loaned/ pimped to us.
