Wow. That’s really stopped me in my path today. How terrible. These diseases really don’t care who you are or your story.

Devastating for him. He was a proper hard bloke considering the bashes he got as a player, defying his stature, I’m sure he’ll battle this in a similar vain.

Horrible news.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Same feelings as everyone above. Saw the story and just swore several times. Awful news and one can only hope the mental strength he has through his years as a top sportsman will be of some help in the tough years to come.

Very sad news.

Rob was respected by all in the game including Australian Fans that do not see much of Super League.

I hope he does ok.

Talent is secondary to whether players are confident.

Indeed.

Simply awful news.

Forever in our shadow, forever on your mind.

FFS. How tragic. Puts other stuff into perspective.

The "Dark Ages" is a term referring to life at the RFL under the new regime. It's characterized by a decline in openness, professionalism, transparency and  achievements,

Absolutely. Hard not to respect what he achieved on the field, especially given that he isn't exactly built like a typical rugby player.

And he always conducted hinself with great dignity and class throughout his career.

As has already been said, what terrible news. I hope the sport will help in any way it can or how Rob wants and am sure it will.

This has blew me away. Sat at work i am a Saints fan but it has hit me hard this news. Nobody should have to battle this. I will certainly attend any fund raising events for him.

Devastated for him his wife and the little ones, right before Christmas as well. Doesn’t bear thinking about what they’re all going through in these moments. But if there’s one thing we all know about Rob, a bloke who’s 5ft 6 doesn’t make near on 500 appearances at the top level without being a fighter and that’s just what he’s said he’ll do.

I saw at least one person mention fundraising- here’s the official link that has been set up http://virginmoneygiving.com/fund/robburrow

In my prayers from now on, Rob.

Can it be fought? It seems a short time from diagnosis to the end ?

No, currently there's no cure I think current prognosis for MND is about 2-3 years, heartbreaking.
