Out of interest what was the attendances at Hull FC and Warrington last night, is the form the teams are exhibiting impacting through the gates?

1000 at Cornwall. Tier three and pretty much being hammered most weeks. 

Come on if here was somewhere that would benefit from some SL and RFL largesse surely it should be here.

I would imagine there's quite a few exiles and genuine RL fans around the South West that are just glad to be able to watch live RL.

It has its issues as any club does that is a long distance from the majority of the other teams , just how they cope with the traveling every other week as part time players Christ knows , Swinton went down on Friday and return this afternoon , ok once or twice a season but hard every other week

No different to football though, some of their part time players cover huge distances too. Eg Banbury and Blyth are both in the conference North, and when Lowestoft where in it they had to travel to Workington etc.

Yes it is, but not an insurmountable one. It’s only in heartlands rugby league where people tremble at the thought of having to travel more than 75 miles to play a game.

Obviously not insurmountable as Cornwall have to do it every other week

Great to see a non heartland club less than a year old pullling in good numbers.  Bigger crowds than many  clubs who have been around for more than  a hundred years.   Just shows what  can be done with a bit of effort rather than just plodding along being happy to survive

Let's just allow Cornwall to continue to develop roots and become a strong club and see what they can do before even mentioning things like SL.

But they must be pleased with the start they have made with crowds. As an aside, what is their operation like? Do they have decent merchandise, sales etc?

I knew this could be done in places where there's no real rugby tradition - see Toronto - but it's remarkable what Cornwell are achieving in an area where union is so steeped in the sporting culture. Perhaps because union in Cornwall isn't so class-based as it is much of the rest of England? Or perhaps, ironically, league has fallen so far off people's radar in the south that much of the old perception/prejudice has faded? A clean slate. 

I still think they're going to have to go full time - or at least hybrid - in the next couple of years, as they'll never become competitive just with local players. And then of course there's the question of the ground if they want to push on. 

But a great start so far and a good news story.

Well well, my wife's taken a job in Bodiam (not far from you). Is there any Rugby League down that way?

Medway and Invicta are probably the nearest but they’re not exactly close. There is some activity in Brighton too.
