Sounds like Dolphins should’ve played that one a bit more local then?

Aye, but on the other hand the attendance was still more than the capacity of Dolphin Stadium (or whatever its called now) in Redcliffe.

What's going on with Warrington's crowds? Are some fans burned by too many years of hope not being matched by delivery?

Personally I just don't see the club making any effort whatsoever. I think the events at Warrington are perfectly pleasant in a nice ground. But I'm not sure that washes any more. Certainly not when every game is on TV.

It’s a Queensland derby irrespective of the distance.

Sporting derby is “a game between two rivals of close geographic proximity”.

Would anyone call Liverpool v Man U or Leeds v Sheffield (in any code) a derby game? Ive never heard that.

Robina to Townsville is much further than Wigan to Warsaw.

If Vlandys ever expands NRL to the ex Soviet Union we would have the russian derby……Leningrad v Vladivostok - a mere 9500kms.

Again it’s a Queensland derby and the people of Queensland view it this way and that’s good enough for me.

Both of those get called Derbies all the time (North West and Yorkshire respectively).

Castleford hullFC and Leigh crowds doing really well on the back of poor seasons. Hull KR flying and nice steady growth from Salford and Hudds. Only really Wire that’s a disappointment and strange as it’s on the back of some positive performances.

Our attendances are disappointing but the gap will close when we have home games v Wigan, Saints, Salford and Leeds.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Hopefully every team posts an increase by the end of the season then they push to increase the following year

Great to see the increase!  I can't help but wonder what is going on at Warrington though.  A (13%) drop is a surprise given the season they are having.

Hang on, I thought having every game on TV and no on field promotion and relegation was going to mean crowds would be rubbish?

😉

And we keep being told that the game is dying.

IMG auditors are going to be very busy checking these attendance increases...

Why? They won't be using these figures.

In essence, they are.

In establishing the actual figures, they are either confirming or debunking these announced figures.

Some clubs may look rather foolish if IMG rubbish these figures.

In reality, the two that are primed for audit there are Cas and Leigh. Both close to the bottom of SL scoring and both moving up a bracket on attendance scoring.

Leigh won't be moving up a bracket for this year's scoring. The three year average will be between 3,000 and 7,500. Given it is a three year average, all club's figures should be subject to equal scrutiny every year.

As it is, having been to the Leigh home games, while there may be some season ticket holders not at each game, I don't think the figures will be particularly inflated. And I'd say there's been a definite increase on last year.

Yep, apologies, I meant rather that none of the other movements cross bandings, only Cas and Leigh do, but as you say it is more nuanced than that because of the averages.

And I agree, I don't think there appears to be any doubt that Leigh have, and continue to, grown their crowds.

Plus Hull

KR who for some reason are reluctant to announce their crowds.

I think they are comfortably ahead of the 7.5k mark anyway though.

Cas, according to the figures they have reported for the previous 2 years (7543 & 7186), have to achieve an average of 7800 this year, to break the 7500 boundary.
