Signs of implosion for Tonga. Man in the bin and kick-off sails out once again.

Roos stuff up the kick to touch but it rolls into touch.

Ball spread to Turbo, who fumbles the ball in the corner.

The amount of errors in this game is something else!

No try, knock-on. Shame.

Nice push-through from Lolohea from dummy-half, but Koloamatangi unfortunately bobbles it.

Tonga probably deserve a four-pointer. They have grafted hard.

Dearden scythes through back down the blind-side.

Poor Olakauatu was left leaden-footed. He has been committed for the men in red, so one could understand his weariness.

18-0 at FT.

A pretty underwhelming game IMO. Tonga's defence and physicality was good and kept the score close.

The only real scent of the try-line that the Tongans got was off the Lolohea grubber. The Australian defence was never stretched by the limited ball-playing threat in the Tongan team.

A rusty display. Expecting more from here on in.

Wasn't too bad of a match.

Just felt like I was watching 2 new NRL teams rather than an international, especially when they play under NRL rules, not the international rule set.

Lolohea was way out of his depth. Did absolutely nothing in attack.

He was shocking. I hope he doesn't get picked for game 2. Hopefully koula plays at 6. Tonga lacks a bit of x factor in the backline and halves

This is the trouble with just 2 or 3 end of season Internationals. There is no continuity or building and every year is just like starting again with different teams.

Aside from being central to Tonga's only two moments of threatening a try.

But I do agree that at most other times he looked off the pace.

The game was very similar to the England games last year (in particular games 2 and 3).  Loads of go forward from Tonga and plenty of power running but no real threat against a well organised defence that is prepared to get plenty of bodies in the tackle and defend their line.

Always a massive problem with England as long as I've been watching. No consistency, and no sense of building - we had it a little in the past decade under Bennett, but not enough. And ironically the most building seemed to be using the GB tour 😅

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

33k is a great crowd, and shows the huge potential for international TGG matches across the region. That would have been the second highest attendance at the 2017 World Cup (behind the 40k at the final). It is a massive leap forward.

As far as TGG expansion and increased revenue is concerned internationals are an easy win for the ARL. We have the best game in the world and our international game across the region can easily rival the vichies. While of course the cheese rollers in their tight shorts have a game that appeals to err nobody beyond their enclaves in Australia.

My son tells me there was talk after the game of Kotoni Staggs coming into for Lolohea, I think he was in that position the last time they beat Oz.

That reminds me, will have to get the fruit and nut bars in in time for the England game tomorrow.

Who are England playing tomorrow? (My favourite nut bar is macadamia!)

I'm pretty sure Staggs injured
