Blimey, that was a timely stroke of luck.

Weird that they didn't mention it last week.

Forgive me if I take this "news" with a pinch of salt.

If you can read properly it does say they mention it last week 😂 if it comes of who’s knows

No it doesn't.

Feel free to quote the relevant bit that I am missing, but no-where does it say that SRD told the other owners about potentially takeover last week.

It's new news.

And it's questionable.

With this and the 'takeover' at London, I wonder if the rumoured NRL acquisition of SL is being done piecemeal by investing in clubs instead.

Perhaps the NRL don't want to deal directly with the RFL. Just saying

Salford will be heading back to Pendleton church again at this rate, regardless of a stadium deal, the bigger picture in reality is that they need a wealthy benefactor.

Dont talk like a Pit Lark, Wakefield havnt held the game back at all. They've hung in there because against all the odds no one else could do a better job and take their place. AS a result of that, they are sitting in a very comfortable place and will be one of the strongest and better run teams in SL.

This true to be fair. If the league had a better alternative to Wakefield, they'd have taken it.

My issue on the tail-wagging-the-dog stuff is that we've done things like hold the salary cap back too far, even though half the league would spend more if allowed, in order to placate clubs like (previously) Wakefield, and that we've worried far too much about clubs outside of the elite league when thinking about how to develop our elite league. If we focus on making a better Super League, we'll have more resources to support the layers below. That should always have driven decision-making.

The fact that this has been published in a Yorkshire news paper only furthers the claims from the Salford lot that those over t'other side of the Pennines have an unhealthy obsession with SRD and their finances 🫣😂

Or Reach don't own a paper in Salford. 🙂

As a Wakefield fan I am embarrassed by the vitriol spouted on this thread by dboy. Trinity fans know how it feels to support a club lurching from one financial issue to another, to support a club that year after year defies the odds. I admire the tenacity of Salford. I know the many Trinity fans I speak with wish Salford well, without Matt Ellis we would not have a club. To revel in and gloat at Salford`s predicament is low and shows a total lack of sportsmanship.

Facts aren't vitriol. I don't hate Salford (or any club).

Wakey did the right thing for year's, especially under Carter, meaning we were rubbish on the field.

Salford choose to do it the other way. They have a cracking team at the expense of paying their bills.

Sportsmanship! PMSL.

Quote where I have been vitriolic.

They must think we are thick - let this investor attend the meeting and guarantee the advance

Its a consortium of Dr Nocash, David Argyle-Sweater and Richard Wilby-Ateaminnewyork. Leighton Samuel is sorting out the visas for the overseas players. Jobs a good 'un.

They do it’s the Manchester Evening News and the circulation is down to 7315 which says a lot for the Reach Group, it’s the same with the Bolton News, two decent newspapers ruined by Reach.

Good news for Salford as I can't imagine the RFL or RLC would want to see the fall out of Salford going pop.

It's a tough one though.

I'm sure the RFL haven't forgotten the flack they took for the way they helped the Bulls, a course of action that cost the game a lot of money!

They won't be wanting a repeat of that.

Sorry did I say 3pm? meeting now cancelled and clubs have deferred to the RFL to figure out this mess, thus delaying things further

That's the right call by the clubs.

Not in the short term, particularly for their players. Their payroll will be due by the end of this week, and it sounds like they were banking on the advance funding to fulfil this. The RFL are going to have to get a real move on.

Salford only requested money that was duly theirs, slightly earlier.

You have questioned Salford signing players.

Here we have the clubs who welcomed IMG abdicating their responsibilities and allowed the RFL to decide;the same lot who permitted this -

I think what narked off everyone regarding Bradford was the clandestine way everything was handled and the BS reasoning that followed (predatory developers and iconic stadiums). This has been pretty much in the openand yes I think the correct call has been made.
