  1. Isn't an unaffiliated spectator the correct person to point this out, with no perception of bias. I am one who says a club behaving like this should absolutely be named and shamed.

  2. Here we go yet again. 11,163 on FTA TV is hardly embarrassing. It certainly did not look bad on TV. With that logic we would hardly show any Rugby League on FTA TV. Saying FTA should just be used for internationals is just weird. Lets just ignore the fact we barely play any to sell anyway but any extra internationals that we could feasibly create without NRL involvement are likely to be more embarrassing. Are you really suggesting that our clubs and domestic competitions should have no FTA exposure. Great for the game, attracting new people and sponsors that.

  4. I don't know what to say to you. If you don't like two teams full of talent scoring great tries then maybe this sport isn't for you.

  5. Agreed. A highlights package of these two semi's would have some superb scores. And people would watch it and still say 10 seconds later there is no skill in the game any more!

  6. I've enjoyed both semis. Some outstanding rugby from Wigan and Warrington.

  7. It’s great the work going on behind the scenes, but you have to have a team worth watching, to benefit from it,

  8. Great to see that intensity from the word go. At last we had contested kicks on last tackle amazed the touch judge didn’t see the fax man in touch in the build up to their last try. Good to hear the barmy army in full voice. Just one concern was somebody shouting to break someone’s jaw just like last week. Don’t know if it was same person but he needs to give his head a shake

  9. Harry, I think it's fine to crave a close game. We all do, we want classics every time we watch, of course we do. But when a game is one sided, we don't have to be so melodramatic or downright negative tbh. It's sport, they won't always be classics. But there is plenty to enjoy. And I suggest that anyone who doesn't enjoy it just quietly goes and enjoys something else.

  10. Have to say, and this isn't personal, it is just a response to the fact you post the same thing over and over, I am so glad you are not in a decision making position within our sport.

  12. Well played Swinton. Very inventive, intelligent, and near error free game of rugby, really made Trinity work for that and 46 - 22 flattered us. Maybe a hang over from the semi-final but I wouldn't want to discredit the opposition. Fundamentally they have been the best team I've watched us against this season.

  13. It's left me looking forward to the final very much. If we get a dry track it could be a classic.

  14. I'm not sure anyone has that cosy view to be honest. Anyone that has played Rugby League or watched the game at that level knows how bad it can be.

  15. Wide scoreline: uncompetitive blowouts like this are a DISASTER for the game. Close scoreline: dour slogs like this are a DISASTER for the game. Amazingly skilful try: poor defending is a DISASTER for the game. Solid defence: the attacking side are clueless and this is a DISASTER for the game. The Ref calls it right: he should have checked with the video referee and this is a DISASTER for the game. The Ref checks with the video referee: why can't he call it himself and this is a DISASTER for the game. And so on until the Heat Death of the Universe.

  18. In first half Hardcastle was penalised in an incident involving Graham. Ref signaled it was for kicking out in the tackle. Awarded penalty but no sin bin etc. He later penalises Hookem for pushing at marker and sends him to to the bin for 10. Apparently Hookem got binned because he had previously issued a team warning to the Rams. In terms of dangerous play umm pushing or kicking out!

  19. Seen a couple mention about things going wrong since beating Haven, I really wouldn't use that as a yardstick, whilst it was a win it was still pre-season. I know Town were missing quite a few today and it might of just been a bad day at the office, I wouldn't be making any rash decisions such as saying the coach should go or it's because of the new signings. Rochdale has always been a tough place to go, with a full team or not, it'll of been a disappointing loss today but sometimes they just happen in sport and got to take it on the chin and re-group for the next game. No doubt I'll probably get some sort of stick for this post but stick with it and I'm sure your results will turn round.

  20. I take no delight in getting close to my prediction, but honestly felt it would be that sort of score. Great start with two quick tries and then Featherstone woke up and we gradually dropped of to sleep, which must have been for all the tackling we had to do and corresponding energy sap. The referee gave Hookem an early half time rest, but for what reason I do not know. Someone tell me please (I was updating an absent supporter at the time). O’Connor caught a high ball in the in-goal area, then made it almost to the halfway line before being tackled and oh so clearly held down, but nothing from referee Worsley. He later collected in the field of play, but dropped the ball behind him for which Worsley gave a knock on. Was it? If Restall had kept hold of the ball when he intercepted he would have scored. From the scrum Rovers moved forward and yet again we intercepted, but this time we supposedly were offside (must watch for that in the highlights) and they crossed again soon after. It is these little elements in a match which can make heads drop and then it becomes hard to regain the enthusiasm and energy to turn the tide. Then again, it must be a poor side that allows opponents to score 46 unanswered points.

  21. Talent is talent, class is class, watching a talented team score class tries is always a pleasure to watch. Some RL fans ( Harry ####### and his ilk) are what discourages people from wanting to experience what RL has to offer. Empty vessels etc. Go and watch another sport if you don't like RL at its best. Two teams this weekend played some outstanding rugby.

  24. So, we've signed Eden all well and good. I thought after the massive clear out last year we we're looking for young, hungry players to develop, Eden does not fit category at all. So if there is any truth behind the aforementioned ethos Eden's signing belies that. I don't have a particular beef over this signing but retaining Craig Hall would have (for me) benefited the team more as he can kick goals, play in the centre, full back and winger.

  26. We’re just not good enough. The lads try their best most of the time but it’s just too much for them. Size, power, skill, kicking, set pieces, creativity, leadership are all second rate to these ‘bigger’ teams. I’m not even on about the daft decisions and some slack basic moves that we produce at key times. Even our best players would really struggle to get in the fringes of the Fev team, and this Fev team are average compared to what they had in more recent years. Im not overly criticising the lads or coaches, it’s just the realistic fact of being a Rams fan in the Championship. My school report for them would show: B for effort D for ability

  29. That was an almost perfect performance from the team today. Both attack and defence were on fire from the first minute until the last. If the squad stays healthy for the rest of the season then the team will be there in the playoffs. Congratulations to the team, coaches, back room staff, directors and the people that give their time voluntarily.

  30. Best performance all season. After falling short against Hunslat and Keighley we finally get a result that reflects the performance. We blew Workington away in the last 20 of the first half and never looked back. We looked great in attack making good yards after contact and line brakes, we also spread the ball well. We put in some really strong tackles and even when we were far a head in the closing minutes of the game we kept Town out which was good to see. Now we go on our road trip and with some tough games coming up we need a repeat performance.

  31. Totally agree about pembo I thought he did his job superbly and also his enthusiasm is massive for the team. As a team we looked a lot better still a bit clunky but probably down to confidence more than anything and the 2 lads from hull fitted in well would be nice to have them longer. Let’s build on this into next week and hopefully get a run together and more confidence.

  33. "Cough, a pedant writes Widnes led 16-12 for about 90 seconds just before half time, cough". That said would have took a point when Whitehaven ran in the second length of the field intercept for 16 -28. If we had snatched it at the death it would have been an injustice to Whitehaven. A perfect example of why there's no need for golden point. Both teams deserved something from the game. Oh, and I wouldn't say no to Jake Maizen at Widnes.

  47. As there has been some controversy on the scorecards, I watched it again and it was actually by enlarge a very easy fight to call. 1-2nd Undoubtedly Usyk 3rd Harder to call. I still gave it to Usyk. 4-7th Fury won convincingly 8-10th No doubt Usyk dominated 11th More even but still quite comfortably Usyk 12th A lot gave it to Fury and it was close, again I thought Usyk. On my scorecard, it was 116-111. Even if you give the 3rd and 12th to Fury it was 114-113. Best man won. Most eye-catching shots were from Usyk and he pressured the whole fight.
