Neil Innes is no longer an urban spaceman.

One of my all time favourite entertainers. A truly awful way to cap off a terrible year.

And when they found our shadows

Grouped around the TV sets

They ran down every lead

They repeated every test

They checked out all the data on their lists

And then the alien anthropologists

Admitted they were still perplexed

But on eliminating every other reason

For our sad demise

They logged the only explanation left

This species has amused itself to death

No tears to cry no feelings left

This species has amused itself to death

Before you even start on The Python stuff, The Bonzos and The Rutles alone are a great legacy.

Very sorry to hear he's passed away.

I missed this in December for some reason.

Arty McGlynn, guitarist who had a big influence on how the guitar was used in Irish traditional music. He had a dry Ulster wit. Non-trad fans may recall his contributions to some of Van Morrison's stuff.

I remember him being a guest on Good Morning. He was given an item of tudor clothing and asked if he was getting anything from it.......his response "this was worn by a man.....or possibly a woman", nice Derek, well done ?

A conman through and through.

I remember him on Talk Radio about 20 years ago, when a guy phoned in mentioning somebody called Will who lived in Amsterdam.

"I can see a ship!" the conman started off....

"There's water...."

"Canals!"

What a cowboy. And he got everything wrong.

Marty Grebb - not a big name, but someone who worked with big names. Leon Russell, Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Eric Clapton, JJ Cale, Elton John, Muddy Waters, The Band, to name a few.
