As I said earlier you could have a clause stating that the contract only came into effect if the RFL approved the move. Since they have......

theres a lot more work in that (and expense) than an MOU which is common practice in business.

It will be amazing if the current club continues. It looks like all contracts are null and void anyway and the reality is, who as part of a takeover bid is going to "buy" 600k+ worth of debts when they will shortly have a chance to get the name of the club for nothing?

Funny how Halifax fans seem to know every in and out of our club. Second part of you post ist a good post, but the "it looks like all contracts are null and void" seems you know what we dont.

Also should it be the case maybe the new people have the slightest chance of salvaging the majority signed on and give us a base of a side.

If the ship can be steadied by the new owners, and we can (massive ask I know but it seems the new owner has been in touch with players with a plan regarding pension monies) keep our contracted players, we wont be starting the season with a squad much smalle than Leigh or Fev.

It has been said we will use dual reg this year so if itis the right club for us and them there is every chance we could have a season with relatively low outgoings compared to previous and hopefully a base to start the year after.

All ifs buts and maybes though

No, would not be overly surprised if it was Toronto, but will it be possible without them having RFL membership.

We were supposed to be previously DR'd with them but only got players on loan and never DR.

Last club we were with was Widnes and only had to my memory Ted Chappelhow and Chamberlain from them. I don't want our club to be another Fev or Swinton (no offence intended), but if we are to run a tighter ship to move forward maybe a year or two of sensibly using it is in the best interests of the club.

cheers,i were hoping you might say giants then we can go without DR as i think it spoils the whole game, credit to fev as they did the job right and made it work great, think we had a couple a loans and russel as a DR.its when clubs turn up with an handfull a stars that the game aint what it would have been without them.limit the job to one loan and one DR and that would work, just hope you dont turn up at our place with simms or wardy will nail him again.:kolobok_popcorm1:all the best for 2020.

Sport is not business. How many times, the Operational Rules require a club to have a named stadium that they are guaranteed to be able to play at and have tor provide documentary evidence that it meets all the requirements. Without a contract in place Bradford would not have been given permission to play their home games at Dewsbury.

An mou works as a contract without all the work/money having to be put into it as you dow with a contract, if something stops it from happening to dont lose out on time, effort and cost that you do with a contract.. its common in all aspect spf life (is that a better phrase?)

In terms of the business part of sport it really does work like a business..

Anyway. Let's move on..

All a bit academic chaps

It's become abundantly clear that the proposed new owners have been courted by Chalmers for many months, certainly well before it emerged about the move to Dewsbury.

Should they take on the club (by no means certain) then it is obviously on the pretext of playing at Dewsbury i.e without the burden of Odsal. It could even be (speculation) that the move to Dewsbury was to reduce the outgoings to make this 'sale' viable.

I suspect the only way we won't be at Dewsbury next season would be that we don't have a team - which actually looks a pretty reasonable possibility at this moment in time.

Sorry its more common sense rather than knowing every in and out. If you do not pay someones pension contributions then you are likely breaking your contract with them.

Mick Gledhill reporting on Fb that there may be more worries

Acknowledging the source of the rumour but IF it is true then maybe the Special Measures are fully justified

There are plenty of more reliable sources than MG confirming much of the info coming out.......

Bradford have sold a lot of season tickets for the upcoming season .... I wonder where the money has gone and also if the club sale goes ahead will those tickets be honoured?  Also if the clubs debts are hampering the sale and the club then folds and then relaunches debt free ..... again will they honour the season tickets already sold!!   Either way I don't think its a good time to buy a bulls season ticket!!

Who would trust the Bulls? Here people are owed thousands again who got dudded by the likes of Hood, Green etc. People wont do business with a Club that consistantly has money problems and doesnt pay its bills on numerous occassions. Why would a consortium take over a Club with well over 500K debts? I get the feeling the new consortium will pull out. If that happens, Bradford Bulls should be closed down. Things cant go on as they are. Starting a new club with no debts, ties to the past etc, makes far more sense.

Tbh they can go to the wall for me, sick to death of them walking away from contracts and obligations, I’ve worked for two companies now who have been left with bad debts by various incarnations of this club.

Just draw a line under the whole sorry affair

I get that frustration, and believe me I feel it myself. My club has become a total embarrassment to the sport, and something drastic needs to be done.

At the very least, I think completely starting over, with completely new people (not just owners but ALL those currently connected to the club). Moving away from Odsal will help with that, one less thing to tie us to the past. Even a new name, or go back to Bradford Northern if that works, would help everyone to be free from the Bulls brand which is now indelibly tainted imo.

But I'd resist the idea of just 'closing them down'. For one thing, even after all the shenanigans, there is a current fanbase of around 4000 people. What's the latent fanbase? It would have to be at least double that. And Rugby League isn't is a healthy enough position to simply jettison 8000 people who, in large numbers, turn up through thick and thin and pour money into the coffers - not just of the Bulls - but plenty of other clubs as well.

Good point. If that money is gone then how do new owners generate any income?

A fair analysis

Watching the 2003 Grand Final Gold,  Bradford v Wigan. What a great team Bradford had. They really were a powerhouse of the game in every way. Such a pity all the rubbish that has happened since.

The predicament they find themselves in now probably began with the team they had back then. All that success was on the bubble.

I see that they are holding two fans' forums at Dewsbury next week to update supporters on the current position and their plans for the future. This sounds a lot more positive, let's hope.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

That was my impression as well Konkrete , happy to be re-educated too , was it not money taken to from the council in leiu of Odsal maintenance , which wasn't used for that ?
