How many times has he been stood down now? Two? Three?

I’m sure he’ll be in the pubs of St Helens being loud and telling everyone who’ll listen about whatever his opinions on rugby.

Seems Mr Ganson runs his department like some Viking king. Cnut.

This will be of little surprise to anyone, been remarks for some time and Ganson has always had that bully stance. Also no surprise that action is now being taken now Rimmer is gone

A preseason camp in Tenerife sounds nice. Obviously the RFL aren't as skint as we are led to believe.

Given costs, it's probably cheaper to fly a few blokes out to Tenerife and have them stay in a resort off-season than pay for transport in the UK and have them stay at a conference centre.

Plus people are allowed to have nice things.

Silverwood doesn’t hold back…

Ganson sounds like a right c***. Which will hardly surprise many on here. What is more depressing is the weak organisational culture needed above him at the RFL to allow such a situation to continue for so long.

Apparently this site says I "won the day" here on 23rd Jan, 19th Jan, 9th Jan also 13th December, whatever any of that means. Anyway, 4 times in a few weeks? The forum must be going to the dogs - you people need to seriously up your game. Where's Dutoni when you need him?

Some interesting replies on the Twitter feed especially the one asking why Silverwood didn't speak out sooner.

Knew a bloke who was a merry flag waver, sadly no longer with us, he hated Ganson with a passion. Said "he stood on many peoples toes to get to where he was", and he was only a Ref. at that point.

I think Silverwood has spoken up before to be honest. I’ve seen stuff publicly that didn’t need a huge amount of decoding, and I’d be amazed if he hasn’t expressed views within the RFL. Far more likely it was brushed under the carpet by the weak Rimmer regime.

Absolutely this but at the same time perhaps if it were tolerated, it was also symptomatic of the general approach by senior management at the RFL to those below.

When one ref leaves it’s unfortunate but when it’s a steady flow as appears to have been the case for a few seasons it’s symptomatic of the malaise and sadly it appears it’s needed the departure of Rimmer for this to happen.

In the article Child refers to the “in your face criticism of League” which I think is a symptom in the game which persists all the way down to grassroots which holds the game back, when other sports might have a focus on participation and enjoyment.

Part of League’s strength is that it was born out of adversity and to an extent has continued to wear that on its sleeve, but we need to move from believing that those that appear to share Ganson’s approach, have a “professional” approach to anything?

Off-topic, but it isn't off-season in Tenerife.

Sport, amongst other things, is a dream-world offering escape from harsh reality and the disturbing prospect of change.

I have no idea but given you can fly to Mauritius for the cost of a peak time London to Lancashire train ticket, I still wouldn't assume it was more expensive than getting together in Skegness.

We've lost some good referees during Gansons reign. Lets hope it wasn't due to him and if so why didn't the RFL act sooner

In June I went to work in the UK for the first time in 25 years. Massive construction job...long term...great money but walked away at Christmas.

When asked why I was leaving I gave a quote I once read.

"Good men dont walk away from good jobs they walk away from bad management"

Seems this has been the case in the Refereeing department.

We've had referees leave citing bullying, homophobia and intimidation and allegations that Rimmer ignored formal complaints about this.

Is it a coincidence that Ganson is suspended a month after Rimmer leaves?

Given the nature and extent of allegations (over the last 6 years), it's outrageous this investigation has taken so long to be launched.

Sure it wasn't a preseason camp of ten in fife?

Train tickets are not a great comparison really, I'm sure I can fly to the international space station cheaper than a London to Lancashire ticket

...and get there quicker. You'd have a guaranteed seat and everything.

Seriously, I wonder if we'll see any familiar names returning to refereeing the game, if Ganson's permanently gone.
