Because the SKY team apparently said Leigh wouldn't make it into the playoffs this year.

That’s not a sound bite. It’s unprofessional and detracted from an outstanding performance from Leigh and Ipape in particular. RL domestically is seen as a bit of a joke and has the perception of not run being run professionally throughout its entire structure. Classic example.
